Can anyone here recommend a good Travel Insurance company for me as I have booked a trip to the USA in December and need to ensure I have good insurance?

Its a case of ringing round, many will not cover you for anything diabetic related unless your doctor certifies you as stable. I took a trip to the USA in 2004 and was not classed as stable, after no less than 3 telephone consultations they agreed to insure me at the bargain rate of 65 quid for 10 days!! That was a specialist company who I got the details of from my doctor (sorry the name escapes me, prob just as well at that price!). If your classed as stable some insurance policies will cover you for the cost of a normal premium, however as always read the small print and if you are unsure phone and ask.

Hello Moosegirl,

I am off to the land of Cyborg (another member if you have not noticed yet) Orlando Florida, April for 10 nights but sunning myself in St Pete's for a week first of all. I did this trip 3 years ago, this time it is costing me approx £120 more because of the diabetes. You can check out Diabetes UK home page - Diabetes UK (http://www.diabetes.org.uk) but I found the Post Office to be the cheapest having searched around for a few weeks, this is covering me for a year international travel and I have my wife and 2 kids covered also. That's not to say that it will be right for you also but worth a quote I think!
