I have been on Byetta for a month now at 5mcg twice a day. It has dropped by levels from 260-280 to 116-120 and I have lost 33 lbs so far. I have not felt this good in years.

Welcome Dan: So glad the Byetta is working well for you in your control. Do you take anything else to help control your blood sugars? How long have you been diagnosed?

Princesslinda:
I been on Actos and Metformin for the last two years but they did not help alone. Adding Byetta made a big difference and my levels kept going higher until they were over the 250 range.
Hopefully, they will stay down with Byetta in the mix.

Dan,
I can't say how much better I feel in the last 4 days since I started Byetta.
My DE Nurse was going to put me on Actos and when I complained about the impending weight gain from it... she said well if you don't mind injecting we can put you on Byetta. I said go for it.
Best move yet. In the last 4 days my BGL have moved from 280's down to 89 lowest reading to 126 highest reading. I am extatic over this. Especially since I was keeping the carbs below 40gms each meal.
Now I feel much better and have only had 1 day (day 2) of cramping/diarrhea and since then back to normal.... I do get full relatively quickly though and look forward to losing more weight...
GREAT for you too!
Cheers,
Tom

I went into my Interest on 01/27 for just a check up. She asked me if I'd like to go on Byetta and I said GREAT!!!. I had planned to ask my Endo about this on 02/16 when I'm suppose to see her but since my other doc initiated the effort I said, Why not!!! I must admit, I feel better although I think it's going to take a few days for it to kick in with my BG. I have been on insulin for about 2 yrs. with a lot of weight gain (about 50 lbs). The very first day dose I took, I noticed I felt so full. I hadn't even eaten that much. Yesterday (Saturday), I had breakfast at 10:00 a.m. and didn't eat anything else until 3:00 p.m. And even then, all I had was a piece of rotissary chicken and a tablespoon of cole slaw. This morning I had fruit cocktail made with Splenda and some cottage cheese. As of this posting time, I'm still feeling quite full and satisfied. I just cannot believe it!!!! I have experienced no nausea but during the night I did expericence a little bit of stomach cramping. Nothing major though. I'm hoping this will get me to losing some weight. I feel better on Byetta than I did with the insulin. Wish me luck and I'll keep everyone posted.
