When I was diagnosed, and leading up to it, I could not get enough water to drink!
Now that I am diagnosed, on metformin, and eating low carb, I have to FORCE myself to drink water
Isn't it ironic?
I know this is normal, but I still think its ironic;)

I can't say I've ever had that problem ... I've always drank alot of fluids ... long before I was diabetic and since ;)
But, yes, it is ironic!

Add some Crystal Light to your water! That's what I do, plain water's just boring.

Holly I know exactly what you mean. Just before being diagnosed I had that horrible constant thirst. After when I got my bg down and was on Metformin for awhile it went away. What a relief that is !
I have always liked drinking water so I have no problem with it. The Crystal Lite idea is great Tanya, I love the Raspberry Ice flavour. Good luck to you Holly! I hope you manage to get the recommended 8 glasses a day at least.

I, too, have a hard time getting my recommended amount of water a day...even before diagnosis, I didn't drink that much. Now, I try to make sure I get enough...I use the Crystal Light mixes for bottled water and the Walmart brand is good as well (they have an apple flavor that is very much like apple juice and is certainly a treat).

I have to say it's the same with me. I was always so thirsty and now I have to remind myself to keep hydrated. But if you think about it, isn't one of the symptoms of high BG an excessive thirst?

Before I was diagnosed, as with most people, I was thirsty and drank a lot of water. It wasn't until after diagnosis that I learned it was a symptom. What was ironic, for me, was that I had always drunk a lot of water and it actually masked the fact that I was more thirsty than normal.

Same problem here... my new method to force the water i to refill a talk glass at work at least three times. With it sitting there, I remember to drink it. Once I'm home, I barely drink at all.. so I am focusing on trying to get it in during the day.

water is the best fuel for the body.
I used to drink only sugary drinks and no water, but now I have learned to drink water and I have found it to be enjoyable.
It took a while to get used to drinking water, but my body needs it.
I sometimes flavor my water with lemon, or with a little bit of vinager.

I have been drinking water all my life. I drink 70 ozs of water a day including crystal light. Water is very important to the body and its great for dry skin:biggrin: ...water is important as we exercise and everything we do....Crystal Light is the way to go if you can't seem to get thirsty.
