i am type 2 on actos and meteformin for 5 years. My BS have been coming down some from really watching carbs. I ate breakfast and about 4 hrs later I ate popcorn which I never eat. I thougt that was kind of bad but I was craving it. I waited about an hour and a half and checked my BS and it was 85. I have NEVER had it 85. The lowest I ever go is 100. My highest is usually 140 or under. I even tested again with a new strip . I am kind of scared I will check again in an hour. I did go ahead and eat some ham and cheese.

Hi Gabby:
I think 85 is a GREAT reading. I live for those. I think as long as you're not in the 60-70 range you're doing great. Did you feel shaky at 85? Sometimes if you are use to higher #'s, even in the 80's you'll feel jittery until your body adjusts. I'd just check it a few more times today and make sure it does really drop off. Sounds like your low-carb diet is paying off. I can always tell and difference when i'm more strict in carb restriction and i'm only on metformin 500 mg 2 x daily.
Keep up the good work.
PS: I've found that the "lite" popcorn in the mini bags doesn't have much effect on my levels....now it's an occasional movie treat.

Wow sounds like you're in good control Gabby! Keep up the good work!! I sure wish I had those great numbers :)
It may be a low for you, but technically, it isn't a "low". If you have this happen again, and you feel shakey, or out of sorts, just eat something with some carbs in it. Do you keep glucose tablets with you? If you do, just eat one of those, and that should bring you back up to where you feel better. If not, please get yourself some, they're pretty inexpensive, you can get them at any drugstore, and keep them with you at all times!

I agree! Don't treat an 85... My personal target on my pump is 80. In fact, I just asked my endo last week what was a normal range and was told 65-135.

They do work well. I have also found that the little cellophane wrapped rolls of Smarties work great too. :)
Wonderful job Gabby on the levels.

Gabby, people would die for numbers like that. Always keep glucose tabs with you in case of emergencies. They are really fast acting and will bring you out of a low fairly quickly. I wouldn't really think that 85 is low but if it falls under 80 you would have to consider takeing something. As it stands you are getting great numbers. Keep it going.
