I'm always thirsty, going to the toilet alot more then everyone else does, i meen like three or four times more, always feeling tired. I wanted to know wether i could have diabetise and if so what do I do about it, do i go to the doctors or is there a test that you can get to tell you.

Those are some of the symptoms of diabetes but the one and only way of knowing is if you go to the Dr and get yourself tested... and as soon as possible - they can then confirm if it is or isnt.

Welcome to the forums though - even if you turn out not to be!

Hi Matty: Welcome.
You do have some of the common symptoms of diabetes. It would be best if you went to your doctor and had some blood work done. I'd go fasting and have them get a Hgb A1C which would show your average blood sugar levels for the past 60-90 days as well as any other blood work they want to do.

I'm relatively newly diagnosed, and finding out quickly is key to avoiding a lot of complications down the road.

You'll find lots of information on this forum, but a definitive diagnosis is crucial. As you'll see in this forum, it's possible to live a long, happy and full life with diabetes. Let us know how things go at the doctor.

Matty, the first thing you have to do is go to your doctor immediately. You have some of the symptoms, so it's important to get it sorted as early as possible. Oh! sorry, I almost forgot, welcome to the forum.

Hi Matty and welcome to the board. Yes that is one of the symptoms of diabetes. Please call your doctor and tell him what is happening so he can order a blood test.

It would be in your own best interest to see your doctor~ You don't want to mess around with diabetes. If you think you might have it, definitely go get checked out .

Hope everything turns out ok- keep us posted ;)

In the UK you can go to some Tesco supermarkets and have a free test or Lloyds the chemists also do a free diabetes urine test.

The best way is to simply call your doctor and tell him you symptoms and ask him for the test.

If you do have Diabetes then you have come to the right place to get all your questions answered. :)

Get yourself down to the doctors as soon as possible. If you're an unknown diabetic and you leave it, you can end up in a very bad state. Catch it as early as you can (as with anything) and you will be OK.

If it turns out that you do have diabetes, then you're welcome here for support and ANY questions (not that you wouldn't be welcome if you weren't). This is porbably THE best place on the net for information. It's made by diabetics for diabetics... you just can't beat that kind of info and support!!

Hi Matty,

If you are in the UK and want to get tested today, Lloyds Pharmacy have a free diabetes testing service where they will do a Blood Glucose test on you and then let you know whether or not you have diabetes. If you do have diabetes, it is likely you will need to contact your emergency doctors service, the phone number should be given on the answerphone of your GP's surgery, or you could go to A&E depending on where you live.

If its not diabetes, it still sounds like something serious :-)

I was diagnosed with a fingerprick test. didnt want to believe it so refused the medication. i felt fine but it caught up with me. ended up in hospital with DKA and now i live pretty much religiously to the diabetes bible lol. I Found it hard at first, but with meds and support, you learn to live with it. Good luck people :)

i was like that b4 i got diagnosed.
i thought nothing about it and just carried on as normal untill i got ill.
And really wished i went to the docs before hand just to make sure.
so i'd say defo go to the docs and get checked out, cos i wouldnt want you to find out the way i did. it was an experience id rather forget.
so its always best to get checked out
Think possitive and i hope your results are negative.
take care and let us know the results
