Thanks for all the advise. Today Sydney has had some good numbers! Went to bed at 303, but came down over night- 12:45am-239; 3:30am-135; 5:30am-100;
7:30am-105. The low normals scare me at night and early am because she had been dropping too low, but for three days she has held to normal. Basal is close to right? But, today she had readings from 101-123 until her after school basketball practice (which usually runs her high) of 3:11pm-52; 4:04-75; 5:23-62 (home for supper);and now 8:30pm-88. Any idea why? She really did not change anything and previously she was running high at this time. Wondering what tonight will bring!!! I appreciate any advise!

i think you should try temp basals for practices/games. just experiment with different percentages.

as for the highs she is getting at night, 303 is really not good. i would start by lowering her ic ratio for dinner. if that does not work then you need to increase the basals at that time.

edit: maybe i got the last thing mixed up, maybe its basal first, then ic ratio. either way you really need to fix something dramatically that 300 is horrible.

Check this (http://www.insulin-pumpers.org/howto.shtml) site out for how to do basal and other testing...

and 7:30 is stable, within 30 points or so. That looks good to me.
One possible solution to her afternoon low is less bolus with lunch and suspending her basal during exercise. I would not do this on my own, if I were you. It is a idea of how to manage the afternoon low.

By the way, how much insulin on board is left during practice?

Thanks for the tips. Sorry so slow to respond-basketball games consume our lives!!! No IOB generally at basketball practice. Now, she is running high! In 300's from about 3pm yesterday all thru the night. School just called and she is now 79. I gave her Novolog 3 times in the night and kept checking her and she never went down. Couldn't urniate to check ketones. The only thing new was we changed to 9mm Cleo from 6mm-we changed sets early am and she went down 3-4 hrs later. Cannula was not bent. Any ideas? Put a 9mm back in-was given all 6mm, but when I asked about it last week, they said all the children at St. Louis Children's hosp use 9mm (somehow we got the6mm?) Also, thanks for the web sites to check out. Can anyone tell me-will Sydney wake up if she is low in the night?

I don't know about other people, but if I go low in the night, I wake up in a heartbeat. It will always wake me up out of the soundest sleep. But, I can't speak for everyone.
