34 degrees C... bad blood!

I just moved to the east coast of my country... which pretty much means i moved to the sun... and the corresponding heat!!!

I woke up on my second night here and had a bg of 26.9mmol :mad: as you can imagine i freaked. i tested to ketones, that was negative and bolused with a great amount of speed... when i woke up about four hours later my bg was 19.8mmol, corrected again after changing the set and insulin and went low. now i'm thinking that the insulin had over heated and spoiled.

i should probably mention i had been very active that day moving home and getting settled etc and wasn't eating much due to the heat.

now can anyone give me some ideas?!? i keep my pump in my bra strap (i don't have any clip or case for it, i can't find any!!!) and my new uniform isn't exactly cool - it's a tunic and i need all the pockets for my nursing crapp (we really do carry a lot a stuff around)

any ideas here people?!? thanks :)

Humalog, Novolog, can go bad in just a few hours above 27c (my experience). Keeping your pump outside of your tunic would make help a lot, I'm sure. Good luck. I live in a tropical climate, and have yet to find a solution.

When Humalog, is overheated it abruptly stops working.

Never had Novolog go bad in my pump due to heat. I wear my pump in my shirt pocket and it can get a little warm here in Florida.

cyborg, i'm not sure how hot it gets where you are, but 30-40 C is about 100+ F. does it get that hot there?

august, yeah i'm going to have to get a clip of some sort i think. it must be hard for you in tropical weather!!! i think i my just reload my cartridge more often so it's out of the fridge for less time...
