The last 5 days I've been waking up 50 to 90 points higher than I ever have. About 160 to 200...My diet and exercise levels are exactly the same as always, I can't think of anything that has changed in that regard. I'm also spiking after breakfast and lunch even after low carb intake and Symlin. The condensed version of this is: Same regimen as always, but higher BG levels. I come down after my bolus.
I always go to bed at 8:00, and wake at 10:00 when my wife comes into the bedroom. The last few days my pillow has been soaked with sweat like Iwas low - but I feel fine! I can always detect my lows, and have never had any while sleeping. Although, like a dork, I have not tested when I woke this way. When I woke this AM I decided to follow up on the trend and ask about it...
I'm pumping Apidra, approx 24 TDD, Symlin 2-3 time/day w/meals. Dx 12/06 at 47 yrs.
Any advice appreciated!

I would say you are going low at night, not waking up, and experiencing a liver dump, especially if you're sweating while you sleep.
I can detect my lows while awake too, and sometimes when I"m sleeping, but not all the time........

Joe, have you had any headaches along with this?

I don't know if you're considered a Type I or II, but you may be at the end of your honeymoon period, or you may have an infection that is affecting your bodies ability to use insulin.

Yeah - I have had some headaches lately - but I get mild ones almost constantly.
I've also got something wrong with a wrist that I can't pin down, but no swelling - so I don't think there's infection...

It's possible that over time your insulin needs change and you might need to do some basal rate adjustments. Also, there is the dawn phenominem (spelling?) possibility. Good luck in sorting it out. Linda

I have noticed that, if I'm healing from an injury, even one with no infection, that my BGs will run higher than normal. A concussion from skiing, and some huge big bruises from soccer are the two that come to mind, and both required higher basals and boluses for a few days.
I think that I would start with a basal rate test, and make some adjustments from there.
Good luck and feel better soon!

That would be my suggestion as well. In fact, any time I'm "off" in the mornings, that's the first thing I do, check basal rates.

I agree, sounds like it's time for basal testing again...

I wake up a bit high too. I asked the Endo about this and she told me exactly what you said. Im just sleeping through my lows. ( i don't sweat though)
That is why i got Levemir.
