Hi to everyone out there with there pens an pencils :) and snacks in their hand!
Even I'm a 2 yr. type 1 junkie 24 yrs old, just new here!
Guys I got a problemm (as always for us :) Since this spring everything was going fine but when the weather got warmer my overall readings got low.
I just want to learn how does the weather effects your BS.
Quite funny; I knew that it hot weather it should rise more than in cold weather but it vice versa. How bout yours? I've dropped from 8 units from 9 (mealtime Regular) it should have been better but it's still low.
There are times that you remember and say: "hey! this has happened before!" And I remember it was the same the last summer.
PLUS I'm not even exercising and sit too much (becuse of my job)
Doctors don't "get out of the box" too much and I'm the type of guy who learn with experiments and my own observations.;)
I feel my heart like it's tired sometimes...I've asked to the doctor but nothing fullfilling again...Do you have any idea or experience should I say??
C U all around 70mg/dl
:p
hey snake eye.....Im a 2year (well almost) type 1 i got diagnosed at 25 years old....ok your info is incorrect about hot weather raising your blood sugar...it actually lowers your blood...the sun actually has some sort of effect on your blood sugar ....in the winter you actually eat more than in the summer also so maybe that is what is happening to you...i dont know...if you are going low you should check your blood sugars more often and have snacks or fast acting carbs handy!!
by the way what do you mean you heart is tired?
I've been type 1 since 1965, so I think I've just about seen it all--this summer is my 37th with diabetes, 40,000+ injections later. If there was any kind of predictable effect between blood sugar and temperature or seasons, I'm sure I would have noticed it by now, and I have not. But, being the voice of long experience, let me just say this--your insulin requirements (and therefore your blood sugars) WILL go up and down in cycles, seemingly at randon, that may last for days, weeks or sometimes months. It has taken me MANY years to figure this out, and no doctors will understand this fact. I am now 3 weeks into a cycle that began with constant lows. After 3 days of battling readings in the 60's, I admitted there was a pattern setting in, and reduced my base dosages--my basal by 1 and my dinnertime bolus by 3. I'm back in the 90's now and just waiting until the readings begin creeping up to signal me that this cycle is over and I'm back to my previous dose. It also happens the other way--I'll go several days, with no sign of illness, where my readings creep up to 200. then I know to add a unit or 2 at a time until I'm back around 100, but watch always for lows, signaling that I must reduce the doses again. This is frustrating and never (to me at least) explainable--it does not seem to have anything to do with the weather, my diet, activity, emotions, job stress, home life or weight gain or loss. It 'just happens'. Shrug... My advice--always be on the lookout for these persistant patterns, roll with the changes and then keep a close eye for the cycle to continue to change.

Gina,Mick Thanks for your prompt responses! Nice to hear from you.
Mick my man! You're terrific! You just right on top of my problem.
I always tried to find a reason but I couldn't. And your "cycle" theory is I guess for now ÝS TRUE. Because actually I can't tie it up for a reason and even the conditions are against the situation still got the lows. I'm always concious of every aspact that effects the BSL's-- you know what I mean I guess..but I couldn't just "get it". Thanks very much for the advice and the theory. I'd bet your doing fine!
And hey! Gina how is it going so far? See even though we all don't like to indulge too deep in this thing we just do...Just to keep it tight. The problem is an ache coming from my heart and sometimes hits to my left arm. Probably it's becuse of the lows..Never mind ;)
See you around!

Your blood sugar actually lowers in hot weather because hte heat makes your body obsorve the insulin faster..where cold weather makes it slower to be obsorbed.
