Hi Everyone,
I am studying to be electrician. I am curious Is there any diabetic electrician out there? I know it can be a phyical job at times. I currently work as a data entry. I don't move around as much. I just need a new career path. Is there anybody doing this kind of work in construction field? Is this a stable job?

I don't know of any electricians but know 2 that work in construction (that probably doesnt count). I hate sitting at a desk or a conference table all day at times. If I get an hour of exercise in at lunch though it can be cool. I feel your pain on the sitting part. I wish you the best on your career switch!

My natural father has been an electrician for 30+ years...and he's always done very well, never been out of work. At a point he opened his own business and it grew tremendously. I live in the south, and down here you can do very well as an electrician if you work hard and you're committed to doing things right, etc. There's a huge problem down here with people who don't show up on time, live for Friday, can't be found on Monday because they're hungover....anyone willing to actually WORK and keep working can do great.
I know that trends in construction tend to be regional, and you could probably do some research on your particular area/region to learn more.
Now, my step-father works in construction, and does some electrical work, he's on insulin, his daily work is VERY physical, and he does just fine. He had to learn about ajdusting insulin doses for workdays as opposed to weekends (less active) and he carries lots of snacks with him, but he's never had a problem working that hard because of D.
Hope this helps!
