Just join this community today and hope to get to know all the members.

I am from Georgia. Right now I live near Augusta in a very small town call Wrens.

I'm happily married to a former Marine. I have two grown children but no grands kids.

I am type ll diabetic. I just started insulin shots four days ago. I use the Levemir Flexpen. Still got lots to learn. I also have hypothyroidism and take pills.

You all have a good day! ;)

Thank you Penny for the "Welcome"!

I guess I need to check with my doctor for all the AIC ratings and all. I also take Simvastin as well. I just not quite understanding of the new Levemir Flexpen. I just haven't read where I know when the pen runs out of dosage. I am on the sample kit now. I started this past Friday. Doctor told me to check my blood sugar levels twice a day and report back to him Monday so he will know if he needs to increase or do something else. Plus all my latest blood work for both diabetes and thyroid will be in.

So far the blood sugars are still in the 380 425 range.
Only this morning it was at 285. I dunno.

Before going to insulin shots I was taking Metformin HCL 500 MG two times a day along with Glipizide 5 MG two times a day.

I guess I will learn more tomorrow. Thank you again.

When I first got my Novolog pen, no one told me how to use it. I took it to a neighbor who is a nurse, and she had no idea. I just kept using it hoping I would figure it out. Then I noticed the pink "plunger" thingy, moving up the barrel...I just hit the side of my head and said "Duh!" :embarasse I can be a bit scary, but it gets easier. Do you still take the Metformin and Glipizide? I still take metformin 3 times a day, and 2 Glyburide twice a day. I have much more control since using my Novolog.

MKP1151 thank you for the welcome! Congrats on your weight loss. Keep up the good work! I use to weigh 312 pounds. That was 7 years ago. I'm now at 235 pounds. My goal is to get to 160 pounds with my large frame.

I just started a diabetic diet. In the past, I wasn't well inform about diabetes. It taking me to learn a new life style. I hope that I can stay on it well. As it is I have been dealing with stress with a husband that has CHF, Alzehimers, COPO, and a large mass on his right lung at the moment. So I have to take him to and from the VA hospital a lot. I think the stress is causing my diabetes to be higher at this time.

I will get better for I want to live a healthier lifestyle. It is going to take time to lot of adjusting of eating habits.

LadyTaz,
Thank you for your welcome too! I hope to meet new friends and share our stories, and to up lift each other.

Penny,
The doctor took me off all the other diabete meds. I am thinking he might will have to do something else. He is a new doctor and a lot better than the one I had in the Atlanta area. Living near Augusta, it seems like the doctors here take their time to listen and boy battery of tests.

Anyway, I got to go now. I need to help hubby.
(((((((Hugs))))))) to you all!

Welcome to this great forum, Honeychild. Nice people and a ton of information to be found here.

You mentioned you are following a "diabetic diet".......Pay close attention to your carbohydrate intake, if you're not already doing so.

Hi HoneyChild:
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your plate is full right now...bless your heart (only fellow southerners can get away with this phrase!). You hang in there. Yes, stress can definitely affect your blood sugar.

I hope you find this forum as helpful and informative as I have. Great people here.

Welcome!
