Hi everyone
I have been a member for a week or so , but here, at last, is my intro.

I was Dxd in December and am trying to manage things on Metformin with each meal and the "e" word. I had gestational diabetes 10 years ago and was insulin dependent then, so I had a rough idea of what to do. Good job, as my appointment with the dietician is still over a week away.

I am a teacher at a girls' school in the UK, and married with one daughter, one husband and a dog who is over 19 years old.

I am a bit of a sci-fi/horror geek, but my girls keep telling me "Geek is the new chic", :nerd:so I am quite happy.

I'm a "big girl" but have lost 2 stone since August when I suspected things were out of control after returning from a 2 week all-inclusive holiday where I made a beast out of myself, and enjoyed every minute of it. On our return, I noticed the old symptoms had returned and went on a low-carb diet to reverse them. Too late. Have between 4 stone to go before GP says he will consider taking me off medication for high blood pressure or Metformin.

No idea what else to tell you.
Thanks for all your support
:ciao:

Hi Binne,
Welcome to the forums. If it's information you seek, then you have the right place. If new friendships are no problem for you, then you are at the right place. If you ever need advise on your diabetes, then you are at the right place. If you enjoy good laughs, then you are at the right place. If you would like to chat to other diabetics, then you are at the right place.
From your intro it's apparent that you know that proper diet is important and I would add that an exercise regime is also worth thinking about. I hope you enjoy the site and will learn lots from it.

Welcome to the Diabetes Forums. I hope it is as much help to you as it has been to me. My first experience with diabetes was gestation, too. That was 19 years ago. Diabetes is easier in this day and age for sure.

Hope to hear often from you.
