They help your immune system. (Supposedly)

Also, they keep away vampires and potential suitors. ;)

I don't know which one's but here is a good reason to use garlic. Well, my grandmother is in a nursing home about 90% of the people there working and who reside there got a really bad case of the flu. My grandmother is very strict on taking her garlic pills and she didn't get the flu. Garlic keeps the blood thin, which makes the blood flow easier thru the heart and less likely to develop heart disease and high blood pressure. It reduces your risk of a stroke to. I find thought the best defense is a clove a day. What I do is get those empty capsuls, and shove the cloves in them to swallow cause I cannot take just eating garlic. I rarely get sick and I have seven kids running around this house, bringing home god knows what and my husband gets all kinds of stomach viruses and the flu and I caught nothing. And no i don't get a flu shot yes bad I know but i refuse too.

I believe when I was trying to lower my Cholesterol without pills the health food books said it was good for lowering blood pressure, but I didn't find that it did anything.

I just hate the (excuse)... *burping* part...

My Papí uses them faithfully ....

Mamí uses the cloves...
She has this idea that she is going to live until she is in her Hundreds like the "Delaney Sisters".....

Funny garlic story....I had a co-worker who was diagnosed with high blood pressure and the doctor told her garlic could help lower it. She started eating garlic in just about everything....we could hardly stand to be in the same room with her it was so strong..she was old, the doctor told her to eat garlic, she ate garlic. Our doc finally brought her a bottle of the garlic capsules, which helped the situation, but it was AWFUL for several weeks until then. Her BP did well...our's didn't!

I use garlic in cooking food and I rarely get colds or flu. In fact I can't remember when I even got a cold last.
Now, I don't know if it's down to the garlic or not but that's my story.

I think there's something to the garlic. It's recommended by tropical fish hobbyists to soak their fishes' food in garlic juice to help them ward off internal and external parasites. ;)

Garlic contains natural Anti-Microbial Qualities also is said to be one of Natures natural antibiotics hence the anti-inflamatory qualities of it.

Many times after taking it for awhile people notice some blood thinning and some natural immunity boosting qualities of it.

Also helps with some lipid panels. I like the Anti Microbial and natural Antibiotic qualities.

Probably the extracts in capsule form will spare your nieghbors some discomfort d=from the smell.

Thanks for all the info guys - I've been thinking about taking some extra supplements, and garlic sounds like a good one to take!
