hey all,

first thanks for this site. when i first came here witch was not long ago my stress level was threw the roof. reading everybodys posts and learning alot more then what my doctor was telling me i feel alot better. so my question is how much can stress raise blood levels. i was doing great with them around 90 give or take. now my lunch and dinner levels say a hour after have been low upper 50 and 60s. it seems like it is taking alot more carbs to get them back up. just wondering if it was the stress or should i be adjusting my bolus rates (i am a pumper). i havent changed anything in daily life besides relaxing alot more now.:D

Stress hormones can really do a number on your blood sugar. Absolutely. You'd think we would be far more evolved than the "fight or flight" caveman response we still have (sorry, Geico guy), but we aren't. So stress could definitely explain the difference in your blood sugar levels, which isn't to say that it really is responsible for the difference. If I were a gambler, though, I'd put my money on stress, since it seems to have coincided perfectly with your higher blood sugars.

I agree, stress can raise or lower bg. For most, it increases bg, but there are some here that go low during stressful events.
