I was informed by moms on the Childrenwithdiabetes website that medical suppliers do not charge the copays for your prescriptions! I contacted APLUS Medical today and signed up asking them how they could not require the copay amount. I dont really get it, but they said that they just accept the insurance payment as full payment. ??? I should know the answer to this since I have been working medical insurance claims for years, but I dont see how this works? This will save us hundreds of dollars a month between my daughter and I!!! Anyone else us a mail order pharmacy such as this?

Most policies still have a deductable or max out of pocket that still has to be reached every year for durable medical supplies though...

We were referred to them by Emmas parents as well! I just started getting supplies last month. Insulin, pen needles, syringes, lancets. Our insurance would not let them supplie our test strips so I still have to get them through medco. But we are saving over $200 per year in prescription copays. So far so good!

I think the way it works is they just raise their prices on prescriptions they charge the insurance company. So say the insulin costs them $60 a vial. They charge the national retail of $90. Then your insurance has an agreement with them to pay $70, well, the company just says they can't do less than $75 and they write the copay off.

Animas has been writing my insurance copay of 20% off since I've been on my current insurance. That's been about $900 I haven't had to pay out of pocket.

What do you get from Animas? Do you know if you can you get reservoirs, Insets and IV Prep?

I get everything with them. Cartridges, infusion sets, IV prep, batteries, etc. and have never been sent a bill. And when I called once because I had recieved a bill and questioned why I did that one time, they said it was a mistake (first bill after the J&J merger/acquisition) and they fixed it and said not to worry.

How about at the beginning of the year?

Never, and this is my second year with this insurance and I just placed an order no problem.

My pump supplies are covered under my prescription coverage and the Insurance company waives the copay.

No, I think it's because I had insurance with 100% coverage then they messed up when my insurance changed from that to an 80% copay. They just wrote it off after that yet they still seem to be getting their full amount of money when I check my EOB online each order.

I use Focus Phamacy it works the same way . They accept what my ins pays and I pay nothing else . I have saved a ton of money the past 2 years.
