Hi, I'm having to drink this new diet Coke with splenda or drink plain water my diabetic teacher has told me. Do you like this drink? Is there any future problems with Splenda when It comes to health?
Thanks, Rob
Of course there is, if you ask the people who make Aspartame and saccharin...

What is wrong with the original Diet Coke. I love it. I do not care for the one with splenda.

Why just Diet Coke with Splenda? I cannot "stomach" softdrinks of any kind anymore. They cause my stomach to hurt. I think it is the carbonation, and not the sweetener or the caffienne. I still have one now and then, but just not daily. But, I used almost any kind of soft drink, when I did drink it. Now I drink water or iced tea (with whichever sweetener is on sale). THis is why I figure the caffienne or sweetener doesn't hurt, the tea has both.

I drink so little soda it doesn't matter to me one way or another. I think anything in moderation is ok.

I thought it sucked royally! Had a funky flavor! I'll stick with Diet Coke with the Nutrasweet (Aspertame) tyvm!! If you aren't liking the stuff with Splenda and as long as you don't have any reactions to Aspertame, just drink the "regular" Diet Coke. Believe me, if it was gonna kill you, I'd already be dead!! ;)

ill drink anything diet.... splenda or other wise... my aunt she cant drink aspartme it hurts her stomach so she drink stuff with splenda...
your dietician is off in the head unless there is a reason for you personally such as it hurts your stomach etc..
a diet is a diet, regardless of what its sweetened with

Hi, I'm changing my drink from Diet Coke with Splenda to tea. I hate to say it but I never drinked pop that was diet in my life till now. I just cann't take the taste of diet drinks of any kind. So tea with Nutrasweet or coffee will be my drink for now on.

I love the new Diet Coke with Splenda. However, I must say that my drink of choice will always be iced tea. I don't sweeten it...I used to, when I lived in the south, but I was hard-pressed to find tea that wasn't pre-sweetened for me!
I prefer Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke. Anything in moderation is okay though but I wouldn't drink just pop all day long. This is at least what my dietitian tells me.

Diet soda always gives me a headache, so I prefer to just drink regular soda and bolus.

i dont think so i could be wrong, there is a frew products out there now with splenda, they specifically have the splenda logo on the box and the can.
its odd, i can drink any diet product coke or pepsi (prefer pepsi as always) but i would never drink a regular coke to save my life lol they tasted crappy to me and gave me heartburn.

Nope, Coke Zero is made with Aspartame. So it's essentially the same as Diet Coke, yet it tastes different (must have a different flavoring in it?). As does Diet Coke with Splenda! Weird! LOL But I dont like the taste of either the Zero, or the one with Splenda.

Coke zero is not Splenda. Coke 0 has aspartame in it if you look in the ingredients. Splenda drinks will always have a Spenda logo on the front that says "Sweetened with Splenda" or will have sucralose in the ingredients (sucralose is the generic name for Splenda).

the diet coke with splenda is new, but our stores only carry it in cans not the liter bottles. If you read the labels of diet coke and coke zero, they have the same ingredients!! I can't tell a difference in the flavors but my husband swears there is a difference, I think it is just an advertising trick

Hi. Go to Dr. Mercola on the internet and type in Splenda in the search box. Keep in mind that all artificial sweetners have controversy around them. Splenda is made from sugar and is said to taste like sugar but it's a chemical process that makes it calorie free. Stevia is a natural sweetner and has a good taste. It's in some supermarkets and health (natural) food stores.

Last week, I dropped all the diet drinks. The colas--diet or not---aren't good for your bones anyway (I have a degenerative bone disorder) and there's so much controversy surrounding aspartame, sucralose and saccharin that I'd rather do without. I'm drinking unsweetened and decaffeinated Earl Grey tea and water at this point.

You know ... every week it changes what's good for you and what's bad for you depending on what medical study the nightly news decides to quote: Let's see ... the wind is blowing in a North by North-easterly direction, sooo let's go with the one that says having 3 glasses of wine in one week with low cholesterol butter mixed with fried okra has a 6% percent chance of causing cancer later in life. Disclaimer: next week this info may be subject to change.
Also the thing to keep in mind is that since Splenda is fairly new, they just don't have the long term data to be able to say whether or not it's good/bad for you.
I got on the Crystal Light kick when i was first diagnosed, but that got old real quick. For the last couple years i've tried to stick to water, juice, and iced tea ... don't miss regular soda one bit, but i still get the occasional craving for diet stuff.

I'm with Dan on this one :puke:
I prefer plain old Diet Coke. Splenda just tastes bad to me, but I know a lot of non-diabetics who hate aspartame and loooove splenda. I think that is kind of interesting...

I work for Coca-Cola, and Tina is exactly correct.
Splenda IS sugar, with the carbs removed. I believe it to be the best alternative to real sugar.
Have you tried the flavored Dasani waters? They come in lemon, raspberry, strawberry, and grape.
For those of you that would like an occasional treat, our Minute Maid brand lemonades have a "light" version, very lightly sweetened, that come in at ten calories.
