I'm recently diagnosed and I am having a terrible time with foot and leg pain. Burning and aches along with restless leg issues. My doctor has given me carb/levo for the restless leg at night but the pain during the day is making it very difficult to function. I take 1000 B vitamins and ibruprofin doesnt work for me. Is there any other tricks I can try?

Welcome to the forum. First thing I'd suggest is getting the blood sugars normal. What have your readings been?

When I was first diagnosed I had terrible pains in my legs and arms often after waking up, but also randomly during the day. it was never a fun time, but I can only say the same as Dan... get the sugars under as good control as you can. I had problems with running low often, in the begining I couldn't even walk down the driveway without having a hypo attack. Once I found my balance the pains slowly disappeared. Sorry I don't have any magic treatment to tell you about. I won't even take a Tylonol for a headache.

Welcome coldfront!
For about a month before I was diagnosis, I had really BAD leg cramping and pain. After diagnosis, as my blood sugar levels stabilized, this went away. Hopefully you'll find it this way as well.

Hi coldfront. About six years ago, I started having leg and foot pain. I also had pain in my arms and fingers. My doctor started me on Neurontin. As my blood sugar improved while on the pump, the pain in my feet has turned to numbness and the numbness and pain in my arms is all but gone.

Good control is key. It will not improve overnight, but it should improve. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah, what you all have said is what I've been told. I was running around 500 when I was diagnosed and I have been doing as good as can be expected for getting my BG under control. According to my doctor I have been doing really well since being diagnosed two months ago. I was just hoping for a little relief if there was anything that could be done. Thanks for responding everyone.
