I switched from 70/30 plus Humalog for corrections exactly one month ago to Humalog before meals and Lantus at night. For about a week or more I have noticed my nose was rough and bumpy but today it is getting more widespread with a break out on my cheeks and chin of small red spots and some on the forehead and between the eyes.

Had a chat with my dietician about something entirely different but mentioned that this is happening and she heard that some Lantus users have reacted thusly.

Has this happened to anyone else? After calling my diabetes care nurse she said to come by and get a sample of Levamir.

Has anyone else had to switch?

Thanks,
Nita

Well, I guess no one else has had the reaction (if it is from that) to Lantus like I have.

I called the office and was told to come in to switch to Levemir. Two ladies there in the office said I definitely had something going on on my face. I switched to Levemir last night and we shall see.

I switched from lantus to levemir but not for that reason. The ph balance in the lantus made it sting all the time and for some reason I was hungry 24/7 while on it. Now that I'm on the levemir, no stinging and the huge cravings went away. If you were having a reaction to the lantus and you've now switched: you should see a difference soon. Hope all goes well.
