Can cinnamon help stop Type 2 diabetes and obesity. Someone told me that they read this some place?

IMHO, I don't think ANYTHING can STOP diabetes, once you have it, you always have it. What can vary is your control of it. Cinnamon has been reported to help stabilize blood sugars.
I took cinnamon tablets for a couple of months after my initial diagnosis last August...couldn't tell a lot of difference in the levles. I had to stop it as it was upsetting my stomach.
As for obesity, if your diabetes has an insulin resistence component, losing weight could help you have better control. I really don't see how cinnamon could help with weight loss. Better control of blood sugars with a good diet and/or proper meds would likely produce weight loss and thus help with insulin resistence.

It is claimed that cinnamon can help keep your blood sugar levels stable.
I have to agree with princesslinda, nothing can actually stop Diabetes, what you can do is control it!
Some people claim that they have managed to 'cure' their Diabetes or that their friend 'no longer has it' simply because they have managed to control their Diabetes through diet or medication when the simple truth is that they still have Diabetes, but they are forutunate to have it very well controlled so their BG levels never go too high.

Cinnamon is not going to stop diabetes but it may help to control it. It's safe and cheap so why not give it a try.

As everyone here has said, cinnamon is not a cure. It is merely a supplement that has been shown to help stabilize blood glucose. I get this a lot and it really annoys me:
Someone else: I read cinnamon is good for Diabetes, did you know that?
Me: Yes
Them: So do you take cinnamon?
Me: No
Them: Maybe if you start taking cinnamon you won't have to take shots anymore
Me: No, it doesn't exactly work like that

I haven't registered a noticeable benefit from adding cinnamon to my breakfast cereal, but I still keep adding it because I like the taste. In my experience, it's no substitute for diet, exercise and pharmaceuticals.

cinnamon didn't do much for me.....i took 1000mg once a day for about 3 months like the bottle said, because my doctor said it wouldn't hurt.....i think i was so new to figuring out what affected my blood sugar and how at the time that it was too soon to notice.....my it upset my stomach after a while and i could burp and taste cinnamon all day blahh
but thats just me....but its definatly not a miracle cure and even the people i did hear it helped it wasnt by much, most of them didnt find it really worth it either.
