Hello everyone!
The title of this thread pretty much sums it up. I joined the forum awhile ago, but I never posted anything so I wanted to finally say hi and introduce myself!
I am 25 and I've been a Type 1 for 16 years with various levels of control. My last A1c was a 6.1 so I'm currently doing pretty well.
After years of considering the pump, I've finally decided to try it. All of the paperwork is complete and the Animas trainer is coming to my house tomorrow. I am REALLY nervous! Any advice/ words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Nice to meet all of you and thanks in advance!!! :D

Hi there! Very nice to meet you. Good luck with your pump, I'm sure you're gonna love it. I started pumping a month ago, and already know that I would never want to go back to injections. I feel like I have more control this way, and my numbers are usually pretty good. Good luck tomorrow, and keep us updated on how you're doing!

Welcome aboard and good luck with the training. It really is a breeze and a big relief, not something to worry about. Nice to see that you didn't become a closet pumper. ;)

You will be assimilated...

I just wanted to say thanks for all the kind replies! I know things will go fine tomorrow, I am just so anxious/ nervous!!! I feel like I am about to give a speech in front of a million people.
Did anyone else experience this? I know it's irrational, but I can't help it.
At any rate, I will keep you guys posted And thanks again :)

Hi,

Yeah, I think lots of people are nervous right before they make the switch. You're changing from something that's worked pretty well for you for a long time to something unknown.

I definitely know that lots of parents get really nervous before their kids start pumping. I was surprised at myself, because I was really sure the pump was the right thing for my son, and he was dead set adamant he wanted it, but I was still nervous. The first set change seemed like a full-blown surgical operation. Now it takes five minutes.

Hope it goes great for you.

The "trainer" just left. It turns out there was a miscommunication between dr, Animas and insurance people. The guy that came today was basically just a salesman. I've already talked to 3 J&J sales people, signed all the paperwork & submitted it to insurance... I was just waiting to get set up. So I got a more in depth demo, which was kind of nice. I'm not nervous anymore. The panic has subsided... Now I am just kind of anxious and a little annoyed!

Kind of off-topic but this demo was with the blue pump which I had no interest in til I saw it in person. So I at least got to change my mind and order the blue one. I haven't gotten it and I'm already in love :D
