has anyone put together a file for all the restaurant's nutritional guides? or does anyone carry a notebook with this information with them and browse through before going into a particular restaurant? I am just becoming aware of how many carbs alot of these dinners have in them!!!

No file for me, but I do utilize this great website, dietfacts.com. They take all the national restaurant chains (fast foods included), list their menus to include fat, carbs, calories, sodium, etc. When I know we're going out, I pull up the menu, find the meal that has the carbs I can tolerate. I've copied the ones from the restaurants I frequent and put a copy in my car.
There also a book, "Calorie King" I think it's called that has a list of all these as well. You could print your favorite restaurants, keep the menu with info in your car and you'd always have it handy....or just print off particular menus from the website. It's been a great help, as I don't do well if i'm not "prepared" before I get to a restaurant as the carbs, they call to me!

I use the Calorie King exclusively. When I first joined here someone said that this was THE book to have, so I have a copy for everywhere. One at work, one in my purse, one at home, etc. Everything you could ever want to know is in this book.:)

Here's the link to Calorie King listing tons of restaurant chains. I use this exclusively and tend to order the same food items when I'm out to eat because I already know the carb count.

I have a Calorie King in the car and one by my chair. Use to have a small "pocket" one, but misplaced it somewhere and can't find a new one. They are very handy though. Also, many restaurants (sorry, but mostly fast food) now have the nutrition numbers posted or have a brochure they can give you if you ask.
