I have been on Lantus for over a week now.. it started off slow.. and now my morning BS is 100 and below.. a couple of mornings in the 70's - my question.. I was maxed out on oral meds.. and when I started the Lantus I asked my endo if I should stop the meds.. and she said no.. with my BS as high as it was I should get morning readings of 140 .. well.. some mornings I am a little shakey - but the after breakfast readings stay pretty high 200 and also after lunch still in the 200's - I am getting low on the oral meds and dont want to renew them if she is going to stop them (Actos is $$)
anyone else on both lantus and oral meds?

I have been on Lantus and Novolog for quite a while and still take Metformin and Gylburide. My doctor said the oral medication helps my body use the insulin better. I still have high fasting levels, but can keep control during the day.

I've been on Actos and Lantus for a month now. Previously, I was on Metformin, Glyburide, and they just weren't working anymore. I also take Prandin at meals. My fasting BS is usually +/-100 now, around 115 2 hours after meals, and 75 before meals.
I've been on metformin for 18 months, started lantus last week. Still titrating my lantus dose, at 6u in the evening for now.
Last week I started on 4u, my fbg dropped to 5.2 after 2 days, but then "rebounded" to 7.0. Last night upped to 6u, this morning fbg is 5.2. Has anyone else experienced this "rebound"? Am I drawing conclusions too early?
