Is the transmitter and sensor all one part that is inserted into body like a quickset ? Do they have an inserter to insert it in the body ?

There's an inserter that inserts the sensor in the body, then the transmitter is attached to that.

FG is right. The new one is transmitter->sensor
The original one I am using is transmitter---------->sensor (about 3-4 inches of wire between the sensor and transmitter)

I've been wearing the transmitter/sensor since November 2006. I do have some complaints, but overall, I'd say my BGs have improved significantly since I began using the sensors. (My most recent HBA1C was 5.9%, down from 6.7% a year ago). I get woken up overnight with lows and highs, which has been super-helpful. I'm also able to see BG patterns from day to day, which helps in adjusting basal rates, especially during those overnight hours when I don't check my BG all that often.

I decided to get the new Mini-Link Transmitter (much smaller), which just came out about a week ago. The new transmitter is $349 for customers who previously purchased a transmitter ($999 for the starter kit). I'd love for my older transmitter to get some use, so if anyone is interested in obtaining a MiniMed Transmitter at a lower price, I have one available. Just send me an e-mail. I'll include a transmitter tester plug, a Sen-Serter, a bunch of adhesive patches for the transmitter, and some tape for the sensors. All you'd have to get is a prescription for sensors, and then order the sensors from MiniMed. Yes, the sensors are expensive, but I'd sell a transmitter to you for far less than $999, so the whole startup cost would be much less, if you're interested in trying the system out. Um, I am donating my transmitter and a couple of sensors(sealed of course) (version 1, used for about 1 month and a half) to someone here on the forum. Why don't you do the same? The battery life of the first generation ones like these are 9-12 months. After that, you've got an EXPENSIVE paperweight. I don't think Tony will allow people selling this stuff here.
