I've posted here before and asked if anyone was allergic to Lantus or Levemir and I have not heard of a person that has shown a skin reaction to it. They switched me from Lantus to Levemir but I see no improvement and it is getting worse.

I don't know what is wrong with me. I started out with a headache last week that has lasted and lasted. Stiff neck that is some better today. I have taken Benadryl, Tylenol, tried Vicodin twice. I called the endo and he said for me to get off of my blood pressure medicine (Lisinopril which I have taken for 20 years) and go to my dr. and get something new. So, I have.....but each day my face is getting worse and worse with small bumps circling my mouth, all over my nose and on my forehead and cheeks. It is looking horrible. I guess I will have to see a derm also and no one will know what it is and I go from dr. to dr.

Has anyone had this type of reaction?

Thanks,
Nita

Are you sure it's the Lantus? There is a gazillion things that can trigger an allergic reaction.

Have you considered a pump? You'll only pump fast acting and won't have to touch Lantus again unless your pump malfunctions.

I would suggest writing down every thing you do each day and compare them to see if you find something else that could be triggering an allergic reaction. Then eliminate it to see if that's what was causing your problem.

I'm sorry I'm not more helpful. :(

Nita,
in my expereince doctors tend to downplay drug reactions. I guess they don't seem to realize how miserable they can be. My experience has been that you have to do the research then bring the facts to your doctor. Call the company and ask for the research, call your pharmacy, call the FDA. Whatever it takes to get a definitive answer.

I haven't a clue, but I sure hope it gets sorted SOON for ya!!
For soothings sake, (until you get this resolved) have you tried the Aveno Oatmeal stuffs? Supposed to be real good for skin irritations.
