My goal was glucose readings of about 100, including getting rid of my DP. I hadn't been below 120 pre-breakfast for 5 to 10 years.

My morning readings are now between 90 and 110. My 6 day average is 106 (first 6 days of pumping). Standard Deviation of 24, and averaging 11.8 tests a day. My 4 day average is 101.

I couldn't be happier with the results, or the ease with which I obtained them!

I have had a couple of lows, not too bad, I am still lowering the basal rate (it started way too high).
My highest reading has been 154 on the first day.
The Insulin/carb ratio was right on, but the correction factor was way too high, I am gradually lowering it.
I like that I have been able to set reminders for my oral meds, and for checking glucose. I have a weekly schedule set, so I can sleep in an extra hour on Sat and Sun without any beeping to wake me up!

The pump is eating batteries like mad, I'm sure that will improve a lot when I finish fiddling with it, and I have now set the backlighting to manual.

Congratulations on your reads. I've had my Cosmo for over a year and my battery life is less than two weeks...more like a week. I set my meal bolus for 5 minutes and the light is on the whole time. My eyesight isn't good enough to view the screen without the light so batteries are a small price to pay. I buy them at Costco.

I take it that you really like the 1800. I'm looking forward to receiving my upgraded pump in a few days.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate it a 9.5.

The only thing I don't like is having to remove the cosmonitor to upload/download. But... I expect to do that once a week down the road, it's been several times a day while I have been changing the settings.

On another thread, Funnygrl says she doesn't keep her monitor attached. She just holds it up to the pump when she needs to do a test. That would work for you too so you don't have to take the monitor off several times a day.

I too am now on the COSMO 1800 for almost a week now and this being the first time on a pump I have to say I am more than pleased with both the performance and results to date. I have been able to create my custom Meal Menus for just about every thing that I routinely eat so there hardly any more guess work or counting involved on my part. :adore:

If there was one issue I have is the same, having to remove the meter to up/dn load to the pump from my computer. But it makes sense that you can just hold the CozMonitor close so the IR's will communicate during a fingerstick. I am going to give that a try and see how it goes.

That's true, but then I have one more thing (cosmonitor) in my pocket. I already have my wallet, palm pilot and cell phone to deal with. The "L" shape of the cosmonitor does not travel well in a pocket (I tried it!).

Thanks for the suggestion though!

I did not get that far yet, I expect that will be a project for this weekend. I'm used to counting carbs, so I get very good results even without that feature. It will be nice to get that going though.

I actually keep my cozmonitor in my room, and another meter in my purse and another one in my backpack. When I test on another meter I manually enter the result, then I have all the readings there.

Thanks, but wouldn't that be assimilation? :)

That could work for me, I have a meter at home and one at work. But... I'm too lazy and stubborn to enter the values manually. Manual labor, eeeeeeek. LOL

Thanks friends,

That's awesome news Lloyd and Blue Knight! I have a friend that's a type 2 and I'm always trying to sell him on insulin! (then a pump!) I'm so happy for you both!
