Hi Guys & Gals: Saw the doctor this morning. He said that he wanted me to get my head around that I'm going to likely need meds for blood pressure, cholestrol, and maybe blood sugars:eek:  .I told him if that the way things are then I will do what I have to, also explained to him that I am unable to take pills of any kind:o ( Yeah I'm a wimp). Finally my feet do have a mild case of neroupathy which he feels will clear up over time and also have a fungal infection around my toe nails and varicose veins on my feet. I said as far as my feet go that I will go to see my foot specialist.
I have a few questions:
1. Are there meds in capusle form for Blood Press and Cholestrol?
2. Any creams that help deal with very dry feet as well as above problems with my feet.
Thanks for all your help in advance.:) :)

Hey Jedi:
Hard to hear all those things, i'm sure. Hang in there!
What problems do you have with taking pills, as opposed to capsules? The taste? My blood pressure pill is no bigger than an aspirin.
As for your feet, there are special diabetic creams you can buy for them in the pharmacy dept., but i've only used regular lotions. The dermatologist I work with recommeded that I use either Eucerin or Nivea and put them on my feet at night with loose socks and it will soften heels as you sleep. I've used just plain old Suave lotion (very inexpensive) myself. My co-worker, also a uses the bag balm on hers.
The fungal infections are often times hard to treat. Oral Lamisil (a good sized pill) can be prescribed, but you have to have blood work about every 6 weeks to keep a close watch on your liver function while on it. It's usually a 3 month course. The over the counter anti-fungal creams don't seem to work quite as well. Even with the oral medication, the fungus often comes back after being off the medication for a few months.

Hi Princesslinda::) :) Thanks for your encouragement it helps, actually I'm ok with it guess I knew all long this might be the outcome, but it helps to hear postive words from other people dealing with this #$%@$#$ illness. the problem with pills is I can not swallow pills( Ok everyone can stop laughing) :D I'm not upset about this, it is who I am just want to do what is good for me that is why capsules would be a better choice as I could put them in food or applesauce(Sugar Free of Course LOL) that way I could deal with it alot better. Thanks again :D

i know they make blood pressure pills in capsuls, but the cholesterol ones i have no clue about
they may try you out on HCTZ first, thats what i was put on first and there is a generic form of it that is in capsul, its greenish blue i think....
i suggest going to drug.com and search for bloodpress meds and chole. meds and see whats available in capsuls.... the problem with that is, you will probably have to ask your pharmacist about it before hand, cause even tho the HCTZ that i took was in generic form at one pharmacy, at a totally different one, only carried the regular pill form....
so check with your pharmacy first also..

Hey Jedi: I'm sure no one is laughing at you...most certainly not me...you would have thought they were asking me to amputate my finger the first time I stuck myself...I was almost physically sick..now, I don't even flinch (much;) ).
One thing that might help you take your meds easier would be to buy a pill splitter from Walmart or any pharmacy. You could split your meds in half and then possibly in half again and you might not notice them as much. This wouldn't work with any kind of extended relief capsule, but it would with the others.
My husband has difficulty swallowing pills. Me, I take a multivitamin, my BP pill, my metformin, two chromium pills, two fish oil caps and a baby aspirin all in one handful. Hubby watches in horror and swears one day i'll choke!
Also, some of the meds maybe can be compounded in a liquid for for you..we have certain pharmacies in town that do that...i'll bet it would be more expensive, but you might check into it. I STILL think the pill splitter would be a more feasible alternative.
I've found we get use to what we have to, and before long, you'll be swallowing the pills with no problem.
Take care,
Linda
