Ok, we went for a meal, technically my fourth meal since 9pm last night, im still up at this hour! eeek but anywho, i dont work tonight and wanted something different
I had not eaten much noodles at all since dianosis, I was just afraid of it after one mishap to try it much.
I went tested before my meal was 72
exactly two hours after i was 96............. i surely thought i would be in the 180's after that meal
I ate Fazoli's
Baked Spagetti Parmesan
w/ 3 garlic butter bread sticks
2 small bites of pizza (hubby's)
all in all i ate about 1200 calories (eeeeeeek, oh well my first big meal since diagnosis)
130 carbs!!!!! OMG (faints)
After eating, we went shopping, we were in there about an hour...... (is really good to go shopping after a big meal) lol
Going to go to bed now! lol

Wow Stacey, great readings after such a meal...my BS went up 10 points just reading about the pasta.;) Maybe the #'s were so good because you went and moved around after eating...or maybe it's just a reward for doing as well as you've done. Your meal sounded SO GOOD...pasta was one of my favorite meals...and i've not had the first bite since 8/31/06...I miss macaroni and cheese (the REAL kind, not the blue-box, though right now, even the blue-box sounds good).

i eat mac and cheese some, but only 1 cup full, (which is really all anyone needs) i had no idea one cup full was so big! lol
yeah i think it was the walking at walmart lol
spagetti has been my favorite meal since I was about a year old.... I've got pics of me in my high chair eating spagetti that was cut up for me to pick up with my fingers....
so yeah giving up my pasta really hurt! (i ate pasta at least 2 times a week if not more)
here lately my numbers have been surprising me, being lower than I expect almost makes me think i'm cured! lmao
however i know this is not true and must not let me guard down! (says this over and over in her head) hehehe

Sounds so good, Sweetcheeks! :) Happy you indulged because then you don't feel so deprived.
I can eat spaghetti as long as I have the ground chuck, or meatballs, in it, and my sugar doesn't go high. I can be 180 and I eat that and it will be like 130 two hours after.
I asked my dietician this a little while ago about why meat with carbs doesn't make my sugar rise and she said because protein counteracts carbs. Same with a biscuit. If I have a slice of cheese with it, it doesn't rise.
Maybe it was the protein and exercise together, but happy you got to eat good and something that tastes good. :)

Hi Stacey. I just had a very small serving of lasagna (Stouffer's) and a huge salad. It was still listed as 51 carbs for the small serving. The last time I did that, I was ok 2 hours later, but the next day my fasting level was over 200. But it was worth it then, and this time too. :D Don't do it often, but sometimes you just have to.

It sounds yummy, hope you enjoyed it and that it was worth the carbs ;)

Has anyone here tried Dreamfields pasta? It has a very low GI value and I eat it all the time with very little affect on BG levels. Tastes just like regular pasta also.

i hate any wheat pasta's, tried it, wont do it, I'd rather give it up all together
the taste is alright, but its a gritty texture, and thats what i hate.
as long as i dont buy spagetti to fix at home, i can give it up lol and only eat it on rare occasions

I'll agree whole wheat pasta is usually gritty, but I actually like that grit. Or I should say I used to like it. I just cannot maintain control with any pasta nowadays. But if you can and you'd like a recommendation for a WW pasta with less grit and a much more traditional "chew" to it, I can get you one.
My family did not like my WW pasta, but finally my husband found one he likes and I'll admit it is more like what most people expect. You're in the US? I'll ask my husband what brand it is, as I can't recall. He gets it at an Italian import shop.
You know the recent WW breads being made from red wheat? The WW bread that even white bread eaters usually like? Well I bet there will be red wheat _whole_ grain pastas on the market soon. I bet they'd be acceptable. I wonder if they'd slow down the glucose rise though.
And about the shopping. I don't know what it is about shopping. It is slow as heck, but it usually bring the BG way down.

The Dreamfields is great. It's not wheat, it's semolina durum, which is what the best pastas are made from. Doesn't effect my BGs either. I stay w/in the 1 serving portion though. Also eat it w/chicken,broc, & garlic.
