Hi, :)
Since I'm type 2, I posted in here and hope is okay.
I was wondering if anyone can share their expertise about diet sugars. I have Splenda and Equal. I know in the hospital they use Sweet and Low.
What I am wondering is if there is any one of these that are safe to use and is one better than the other? Does the Splenda or Equal hurt your stomach? It seems when I use some diabetic sweetners, my stomach hurts worse. I have peptic ulcer disease and duodenal ulcers.
Any recommendation, info, greatly appreciated.

girly, i hope you can get things worked out with your diet
i know how bad ulcers can be, like i said in your other post, ive had a ulcer for years, the best meds for the ulcers if protonix, it heals it instead of masking it for the day and continueing to take meds every day, I took protonix for a month once (samples) then my insurance wouldnt pay for it anymore but, THEY ROCK! Zantac is the kind of pill that you take today, but you still have the symptoms tomarrow so you have to keep taking it, protonix you take for a period of time and eventually might heal your ulcers. So talk to your doctor about them but they are expensive unless you got good insurance
As far as the sweetners, I dont eat much with sugar in it, I got splenda and equal to use when I need it, there is all kinds on the market, the only thing I can suggest if for you to buy a small box of everyone and test them to see which ones work for you.
I had a friend at my old job, she was way obese, and if she would ever got diabetes she would have been screwed, cause she was allergic to all artificial sweetners.
IMPO- I wont use sweet n low for my own reasons that I wont go into here

Thanks for the tips on Sweet and Low. I know I didn't like it in hospital. I thought maybe the Splenda or Equal was making tummy worse.
I used to have Protonix, but I can't swallow the pills. No pills anymore and have to crush them up with applesauce to take them, but you can't do that with Protonix. Allegic to Prevacid and ended up in ER. Yuck. I had the pharmacist make up the liquid, but it cost a fortune and couldn't afford it at 350 a bottle. It did help tremendously I remember.
Thanks so much for all the hlep. I so appreciate it. This Diabetes is like a math puzzle. Hard to figure out what you can eat and not eat with other health problems.

I use the splenda but not often, most of the products I buy do have splenda in them and I don't notice that much of a taste difference.
Yes diabetes is a puzzle, what may be good for some, is not good for others..it is a constant search and a lot of trial and error.

I have found that I can use Stevia for all my needs. Alo I do not have to worry about all of the frightening side efects from these poisons they call sugar substitutes.
Stevia is sold as a dietary supplement because the Cartels stand to loose quite a bit of money.
Stevia has no known side effects and I use it in my mouth wash and even put it on wounds to heel with no scarring.
Stevia is the way to go.
I can not say enough about this sweetner. Stevia contains nutrients that are good for our condition.
Use only a light dusting good for baking and everything you would put sugar in and on.
Enjoy
