I have a 522 pump and have run the resevoir down to almost 0 a few times. I will then remove it and put the plunger in and there is still a decent amount of insulin in the resevoir. Maybe 5+ units left over. Has anyone run theirs down to zero and still been able to have it pump. Just curious if you got in a jam how much is really left for emergency.
There is still more insulin left when the pump reads zero units. I run past zero often. I'm not sure how much is left. I never really kept track. I would say 10 units maybe.

10 units is about right .......

Ditto what the others said. I routinely carry an extra reservoir and run past zero. You will still be able to bolus, even though it reads "--".

I tried it last night. I was due to be at zero at 5.30 AM this morning and I'm usually up at 6 to 6:30 every morning so if it did stop I would only be out 1/2 hour or so. It was at 0 when I got up at 6:30 and I put in a bolus of 4.1 to cover my morning carbs. It went in with no problem. I did then put in a new resevoir but took the old one out. It still had probably 5 to 10 units still left so there is definitly a 10+ unit reserve in it if needed.
