My upgraded pump came today! *Big Grin* I'm so stinkin' excited about it!

It has a lot of features over my Cozmo 1700. For one thing, you can set carb ratios by time of day or by description. So I have my carb ratios by time of day, and I have my descriptive boluses. My descriptive boluses include "Meal while skiing." This one uses a 1:30 ratio to account for the fact that I have lows like mad while skiing, instead of my usual 1:11 ratio. I also have custom boluses. One is "Cappaccino" which includes the 50 grams for the cappaccino, and gives it over 45 minutes to account for the sipping of it. Another one I have is pizza- 60 grams, 70% immediate, 30% over 4 hours. When you get to the bolus screen you can edit the grams of carbs. I love it! It also includes BG target by time of day. Hallelujah, that's about time!

I set up a few more custom temp rates. You could do this on the Cozmo 1700, but I didn't really. I set up 10% for 6 hours for skiing, and 0% for 12 hours in case I take Levemir for whatever reason. And I named them appropriately too. One dissappointment was that all your temp rates still either have to be in units/hr or percentage. You can't have some in units and others in percentages. Boo hiss.

The carb database I haven't had much of a chance to play around with yet, but it seems cool. I tried to delete the beef category (cause it's so not what's for dinner), and I couldn't get it to. Feh. I'll figure it out.

I used the Hypo Manager when I had an 83. It recommend 4 grams of carb, so I had a glucose tab. 20 minues later I'm 108 (it was targeting 100), so it did pretty well. Targeting 100 again it recommend 0.15 units. So I tried that. We'll see. It actually surprised me it did so well. I'm not used to things working as expected ;)

I haven't tried any of the other features. It has a disconnect bolus- it tells you how much to take before and after the disconnect, and reminds you to reconnect and test again when you reconnect. I'll try it when I shower tonight, for kicks ;)

I'm not using the weekly scheduler yet, but it has potential.

I also love the new bolus summary. And standard deviation for bg averages? Holy geekdom! I love it.

I started using my CozMonitor again in honor of this and just bought 3 new cell phone cases (yay target clearance!) to accommodate. And holy **** batman, I found one I like.

Right now I envision myself running this thing into the ground.

Right on fg, congrats.

How often do you use levemir and why, if I may ask?

I pretty much never use it now. I had a pump failure last summer, and took my back up Lantus and discovered I had an allergy to it. My endo gave me Levemir as a back up and I took it a few times to try and figure out how it works for me pretty much. On my old pump I had a "low basal" basal profile that I used for skiing and when I took Levemir. It was conveniant, but I decided to split it up to two temp rates on this one instead.

Congratulations! It's great playing around with settings on new gadgets ;)

It has a disconnect bolus- it tells you how much to take before and after the disconnect, and reminds you to reconnect and test again when you reconnect. I'll try it when I shower tonight, for kicks ;)

Now there's a feature I'd be using.

Sounds like you are having as much fun as I did!
I found myself using up a battery every other day at first, backlight and upload/download (infrared) seem to be the biggest draw. My battery usage is down now.

I have not played with the food database much, but I think you have to do that on your computer and then download the result.

You can change the correction factor on your computer, correction bolus tab, until you get it right.

I have tried the disconnect bolus, it works, but for something as short a time as a shower you don't really need it. Just stopping delivery results in a repeating reminder to reconnect when you get out of the shower.

I use the weekly schedule, I really only change mealtime for weekends, I set everything so I can sleep an extra hour in the morning without any glucose test, pill reminder, or bolus alarms going off. I have a slightly later lunch schedule of reminders too.

It is a h@@@ of a tool!

Yeah, that's what I've been doing for the last year ;) I just want to play.

It IS WAY COOL!

You can give yourself xxxx % of the basel you would get beforehand and the balance after you reconnect. Might be very usefull for an hour of swimming or whatever.

I'm not sure I will use the mealmaker at all. I'm so used to counting carbs that I do it in my head automatically.

Back before the food database I used it all the time just to add up the carbs. It was nice. I'll still probably use it for that.

Well, I just disabled weekly scheduling because I have no use for it. My schedule is too unpredictable. The hypo manager- eh...I don't know if I am going to use. The problem is that if I eat a high carb meal, it may still raise me some even after the 2hr lockout. And my stomach emptying is unpredictable. I also took out all my custom meal boluses because they just make my meal bolus menu look too cluttered. I'm keeping my custom temp rates though.

I love the new "bolus summary" report. I also love the "disconnect" feature. I am definitely going to try the basal testing thing.

You can get a reccomendation from the hypo manager, then cancel out. I do that sometimes, then bolus less than I actually eat when I am low, but not always just what the hypo manager suggests. I changed the lockout to 1 1/2 hrs, Apidra works really fast. It seems to work out ok.

I really like the fact that there are so many user settings, everyone has different needs, and the pump is so adaptable.

I find the "Therapy Effectiveness Scorecard" report to be very useful, I email it to my doctor.

My glucose is predictable, I have completely wiped out my D.P.

Totally agree there. There are now very few changes I would like to see. I would like to be able to use the the touch bolus in units, and the standard bolus in grams. I'd like my custom boluses to be put under one category in the bolus menu, so I don't have the scroll through all of them when programming a standard or extended bolus. I'd like to be given the choice of whether I want to program a temp rate in units or percent right on the temp rate screen, and be able to program custom temp rates in units or percent. Finally, I'd like more customizablilty in alarms- ie, use Loud for occlusion, vibrate for others, use Loud between 12am and 10am, vibrate other times, and don't give me a post high alarm at 1 am unless I specify to!

But those are just annoyances. I truly am thrilled with my new(er) Cozmo.

Okay, I was all set to get a Medtronic pump again, now I will have to rethink, ahhh!!!!

Is there any sort of CGMS with the cozmo?

Not yet, but the Freestyle Navigator will work with the Cozmo, when it gets ok'd for release by the FDA. Reports from the testers are that it is a really good CGM.

Since I got my new job, I have been hypoing like mad at work. So, once I figured out what the rates should be, I set up a weekly schedule for it. Works absolutely great!!! Don't have to worry about changing rates for days off then switching back for work days. Love it.
