Yes, 6.3 is good. The American Diabetes Association recommends below 7 for diabetics. I think a normal A1C for a non-diabetic is around 5 or so. Keep up the good work.

A non-diabetic a1c is about 5.5. Every 1.0% drop in a1c reduces your risk of complications by about 40%.

Great A1C!!!! Especially the huge improvement in such a short time. 14 is pretty bad control. Now that you are on the right track with the 6.3, keep up the good work. It is a constant battle. My recent A1C was 6.0 and I am very happy with it.:) :) :) :) :)

The non-diabetic range is from 4.3 to 6.0. You have done very well. Your chances of having diabetes complications are only about 1 to 2 % as likely as when you started.:)
Lowering your A1c further is still a worthy goal, it will reduce your risks even further.
Way to go!

That's a BRILLIANT result!!
It's totally up to you whether you stick around there or aim for lower - if you can go lower without ending up hypo all the time, then go for it, but for most people that a1c is totally perfect.
My a1cs tend to hang around the low 6s, and hard as I try, I can't get that elusive 5. Still hoping for it... but even if I do manage it, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep it up. It's a great place to sit as far as long term complications etc, but only if we can do it safely without short term risks.

A non-diabetic a1c is about 5.5. Every 1.0% drop in a1c reduces your risk of complications by about 40%.
I've read online that the number is anywhere between a 20% to a 40% drop, depending on study and which complication specifically.
Eitherway you are on the right track. Congrats to you. I was an 11.6 in Oct and got it down to 6.1 in February so I can attest to the accomplishment you have made. Great going.:top:
I'm trying to get mine in the 5s without going low to often. It's a challenge. The way I see it, from the results of the DCCT, they've found that not only does tighter/better control give you a better outlook but that the EARLIER you gain tight control in your disease the better your long term outlook is even if you start to slip in the latter years. I think they found tight control in the first 10 years to show less complications even when/if you start to slip after that so great great job. I'm going to look for a link to back up what I said. I know I read it, just got to find it again.
