Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has Addison's disease? What kind of symptoms did you get?
I've had hypoactive thyroid for the past year (on Thyroxine) and recenlty starting to experinece symptms like, sore muscles and joints, constant feelign of fatigue and anxiety/depressions . Thought I may be getting another autoimmune treat!! :T so made an appt with the doc for a blood test.
Anyone experience Addison's?

I dont know if what i have is called addisons, but i do have a hypo thyroid, and have had all the symptoms you described. Am on meds nor(levaxin) that should bring my levels back up. i dont feel as tired or depressed now, but that might as well just be placebo too. will wait and see.

I have Addison's Disease.
If you look on the net you will see all the symptoms for Addison's (you don't want it) do not rely on a simple blood test the only way to get a true diagnoses is by having the ACTH test done more info here

I don't, but I knew someone who did and he would also talk about crazy salt cravings, because you lose salt, and low blood pressure (dizziness/fainting, e.g. when standing up).

It sounds like it can be hard to tease apart the symptoms of hypothyroidism and Addisons - just like teasing apart hypothyroidism and depression - it's possible that your symptoms could just be your hypothyroid symptoms coming through, indicating that your thyroid meds might need altering (increased)?

Good luck, I hope you get good results.

It sounds to me as if he was not getting the right/or enough medication if he had those symptoms after treatment began.

Kplants didn't mention the hypos from **** either with untreated addison's you can not right a low bs unless pumped full of steroids.

You're right SueM, I haven't experienced the hypos you mentioned. I did do a search on Addison's symptoms on the web, but just wondered if when you have the disease you experience all the symptoms or just a few?

Jen_SLC, I think you're probably right too, I experienced these kind of symtoms just before going on Thyroxine a year ago. Just had a recent TSH, 4.7 , which has increased in the past 6 months from 3.3, so......but of course my docs aern't concerned and have left my next blood test for another year! But that's another reason for my next appt :D

The depression (from thyroid something else?) is really getting to me now......

Thanks for the replies.

My best friend has Addison's disease. SueM, just have to ask you how it has affected you. I worry so much about my friend. My endo diagnosed her probably 20 years ago. She has not seen him in many years. Just lets her primary take care of her. I have begged her to see an endo and maybe she will in a few months. The meds have made her gain so much weight. She seems to get many viruses and has almost died twice. She knows to take more meds when she has a virus but was still too sick. Her primary had her on prednizone for a while and she gained 15 more pounds. Not sure what she takes now. I am the diabetic for 30 years. Was tested for Addison's but knew I did not have it. I crave salt. I still remember how tan she turned before she knew what was wrong and she is very fair skinned. I have looked on other boards but this is first where I have found Addison's.
