Lady J...........I'm a type 1 pumper, but I know quite a few type 2's who are on a pump.
I don't know how much a pump is through Animas. My Mini Med pump was $6200 and my insurance company paid 80%. My pump supplies are also covered at 80%, which means I would be responsible for the 20% balance of $85 every 3 months.
Hope this helped.

Thank you!! I saw the nurse today and my HBA1C was 8.9. And she would like it to be at 6.5 before she turns to papers in.

My pump 2 years ago through animas was about $6,400. I also pay 20% for my supplies and I spend $123.60 for 3 months of supplies. I order all my supplies from Animas.

Are you saying that she wants your A1C down to 6.5 prior to going on the pump? If that is what you are saying WHY? That is one reason for the pump, better control.

Jim...........I was thinking the same thing!
You're A1c is at 8.9.........that's reason enough for a pump. What would being at 6.5 have to do with the paperwork?

It is really odd how many companies have different rules for going on the pump. My numbers were awful when the pump was suggested by my doctor. My A1c was about 10. I turned in a months worth of terrible numbers and my insurance company agreed I needed help. LOL. I got the pump two weeks later.
Now it seems you have to be in great control BEFORE they give you a pump. HELLO???? If I was able to get an A1c of 6.5 before the pump, I might not feel the need for one. What is wrong with these people?

I'm a type 2, and had to fight the insurance company for a year before they finally relented and gave me the pump. Thought it was never going to happen. I love my pump sooooo much!:)
