View Full Version : endo appointment today

Saw my nurse practitioner today, and things went remarkably well, given the melt-down that I had in her office the last time. Needless to say, I was a little nervous about this appointment.
She was very happy that I'm consistently logging my numbers and tracking basal and bolus rates. My A1C was 6.6 (darnit, I want it to go down! ), but she didn't seem to mind, as my logs show that I'm having fewer lows. I'm being much more careful about pre-bolusing for meals, watching what I eat, and logging numbers- any other ideas for knocking that A1C down? I miss the days of less than 6!
She also gave me 3 months worth (!) of Novolog samples to try instead of Humalog. For those of you who've made the switch, anything that I need to know or watch out for? I'm assuming that I can use my currents rates as a starting point.

Thanks for letting me share :)

Even though you weren't extremely pleased, that's still a good a1c. :top:

I switched from Humalog to Novolog and would not go back. I did notice a slightly faster action and shorter duration.

When you say "slightly faster", what do you mean? 15 minutes v.s 25? 10 vs. 15? Thanks for clarifying. I realize that I need to test frequently and see how it works in me, but the more info the better!

Good A1c Becky! I have had a few meltdowns in my time also. I am sure they have seen it all. Keep up the good work.
