Hello Everyone,
I Know It Has Been Some Time Since I Have Been On Or Posted.
Last Thing I posted Was Reactions To Medications. Ok So I Went To My Doctor A Couple Of Weeks Ago. I Have Been Taking Only My blood Pressure Medication(Atenolol) Omega 3s And My Allergy Medication Plus Watching Everything I Ate. Well The Update Is My Cholesterol Went Down From 199 to 135 That Was Good My A1c 7.1 From7.5 Still High, Fasting Blood Was 146 Not Good Either. Now The Party Buster. "I Was Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia!" OMG I Have Another Condition. This Could Explain Why I Hurt All The Time,Confusion, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, can't sleep, depression, anxiety ,and the symptoms go on. So Is There Anyone Else Who Suffers From Fibromyalgia&Diabetes?? Let Me Know:)

Bless you. I have Fibro and I know where you are coming from. I've been having a flare for the past few days. I hurt all the time, but the flares are the worst. My Doc has me on vicodin for pain from the fibro and acute osteo, but still hurt.

I find that warmer weather helps tremendously, but rainy, damp days make it flare worse.

I'm so sorry you have fibro. I know there is a fibro board online that helped me tremendously. I don't have the link on this computer, but if you type it in search, you will probably find it.

Wishing you the very best and hope all goes well for you. It isn't easy to have both these things.

I was diagnosed with Fibro several years ago and I always hurt and was tired. A year later I developed a large lump on my arm and found out I had a staff infection. I took antibiotics and never had the symtoms since.I did alot of research at the time and the fibro is what they diagnosed me with. I was glad to finally get it figured out. I know what it is like to not feel good all the time and it is not fun. Good luck.

My sis was just diagnosed with Fibro, and has probably had it a good 5+ years tho. This past July she was diagnosed T2 Diabetic as well (we know for sure that one didn't go unchecked for any amount of time, as she's been checked regularly for some years now) She does real well with her BG numbers! All she takes is Metformin for her D, and of course watch her diet. She's even lost 49 pounds since her D diagnosis!! Her cholestrol, well, that's not so good, she takes a med for that. She's in pain pretty much constantly, but has other problems as well with her spine, from top to bottom, she's herniated disks, spurs, spondelothesis (sp?), there's more, I can't remember it all ... basically the docs say she needs a spine transplant, and they haven't even gotten that far advanced in medicine yet!! She takes Oxycontin and Soma for her pain and muscle probs. She's waiting to get into the Pain Clinic right now.

She tells me that she thinks I might have Fibro too, with my muscle pains and such, but I don't think so (my back, knees, ankles and wrists ARE messed up tho) I knew that's what she had (Fibro). I just knew it deep down inside, and again, I was correct!! ;) (I've done that before, diagnosed her before 'they' did! ;))

Good Luck, I hope you have some better days ahead ;)

Wow I Don't Fell Alone, I Wish My Family Could Understand The Pain. The More The Stress The Worse I Feel Just Like Today, Migraine and pain on the left side of the body. Thanks

I was diagnosed with Fibro 4 years ago, but I suspect I've had it a lot longer than that. I can totally understand what you are going through, so feel free to pm me any time.:)

How did your doctor diagnose you -- did s/he use the "fibro pressure points"?

I don't know much about fibromyaligia, but have read the brochure on it!

I have a hard time hearing about fibromyalgia as the "diagnosis" because it's a diagnosis by exclusion (there are no "tests" for it).

You'll want to personally make sure that everything else has been excluded... some of the common problems skipped over might be as "simple" as celiac disease (more likely for a Type 1) or sleep apnea (more likely for type 2). Sleep apnea sufferers are more likely to have insulin resistance, and it can contribute to some of the symptoms you list (then again, so can a lot of other things!). It's something to consider! Even lyme disease can cause some of those things.

If you haven't seen a neurologist yet, that should be on your list. The neurologist will probably do some nerve conduction studies to eliminate other conditions (such as carpal tunnel or a pinched spinal nerve).

Oh, yes---I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/Chronic fatigue 2 years ago after spending a deal of money having everything else ruled out (I do have Epstein-Barr, so that was one big arrow pointing straight to fibro). It's been a helluva ride since then, on top of my type 2 and other ailments. I take Soma for the muscle pain, but that only goes so far.

Good luck to you, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions! :)

She Checked With Pressure Points And Length Of Time I Have Suffered With Pain. In The Past I Was Diagnosed With, Pinched Nerves,Pulled Muscles,Sciatac Nerve Disorder, Slipped Disk, Spastic Colon,Gastritis,GERD, Migraines, Sinusitis,And Drug Allergies /Sensitivity, Low pain tolerance ,Sleep problems fatigue, and more. Upon my research my symptom are common for FM. I know I'm not crazy and I have a really good doctor. Currently taking stress management classes (Helps with FM)as stress increases pain. Since I cannot take any oral diabetic medications I am now due to take insulin starting the 11th of this month. I was against it,but if I get everything under control I know I won't be on it that long. My doctor was impressed at the fact that I have had diabetes for 5-6 years now and I have no problem with my feet, kidneys, liver, eyes or heart since uncontrolled diabetes is hard on the body. I say God is watching over me. Thank For the response

I'm not a doctor, but I've slept at a Holiday Inn once.

With all of your symptoms, have you been referred to a neurologist? Have you had an MRI/MRA done of your brain (and possibly neck/spinal cord, depending on which nerves you have issues with?) An EEG (nerve conductive study) could also rule out other things, and a spinal tap could help rule out MS.

Even more importantly, have you had a sleep study done? Sleep apnea can increase insulin resistance (type 2), migraines, nerve disorders, pulled muscles (from abrupt awakenings and jerks during the night), and so on.

I really hate to see someone dx'ed with "fibromyalgia" without first seeing a neurologist, as fibromyalgia is used as the "catch-all" explanation for symptoms.

In one of the celiac message boards, I read about someone who "had fibromyalgia" for 10 years, until they had a colonoscopy and a blood test that confirmed celiac disease; once they went gluten-free, their symptoms went away within 2 years (due to accidental glutenings).

This is why I'd suggest you not "give up" on seeking causes for the ailments! While I think fibro exists, I think for some people, it's a way to get them "out of the health system" when doctors give up.

I thought a diagnoses of fibro is given when the doc has no other
clue. Maybe ir's all caused from DB? It could be a bad case of neuropathy.

Yes, it's a dreaded "diagnosis by exclusion." I don't like that kind of diagnosis!
