Has anyone ever experienced a low due to stress? I know usually I tend to go high with stress but last night my boyfriend of 11 years told me he just wanted to be friends. It was not a good feeling I think I cried for about an hour. I was also just recently diagnosed with severe depression.
I was 6.2 before dinner and took my insulin based on my regular I:C. When I checked my level 2 hours after dinner (about 30 mins) after he told me I was down to 3.9. Big change and no reason for it. I had my evening snack and took my shot. Before bed I went up to 7.3. I took my normal dose of NPH before bed based on my slightly elevated level and woke up at 8.5. I have been in the mid 8's all day now even with appropriate corrections. I am pretty sure that the highs are due to the stress but the unexplained low I don't know about. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Hi! I'm sorry about your boyfriend. Stress affects me the same way. I go low, every time I get stressed out. My husband was in a car wreck recently, and when I found out, I went low and had to treat my low before I could go to the hospital to see my husband. I'd rather go high, lol.

Thanks Kimmy
I have been wondering about what happened since last night. The only thing I could think of was the stress. I have never experienced that before though. As I said I usually go the other way with stress (as I am dealing with today). Maybe I cried all the sugar out ;)

Hey. Sorry to hear about your boyfriend...I have found that most of the time work stress lowers my bloodsugar and personal stress raises it. Sometimes it does both....Just keep a close watch on it. I hope your in better spirits soon :)

sorry to hear the bad news.
I found that severe emotional stress, acute such, drops me pretty fast. Be it anger, crying or whatnot. I figure it is not that strange, since all of these emotions, esp crying works the body physically as well. It uses up a lot of energy for me so i tend to go low.

Thank you everyone for your concern. I am having a very rough time right now but time heals all wounds.
I am trying to keep a positive attitude hard to do but I have to.
Unfortunately I still can't get my levels down urgh! I am trying not to stress about that too but it is hard.

Sorry about the bad news but welcome to the single world which is not at all bad even though it's tough at first...

Thanks again everyone.
It has been a long time since I have been by myself. But I will definately make it through. Too much at once. But isn't that the way it always works!
