Saw the endo today and got my latest lab results.

A1c = 5.7 (down from 5.8)
Creatinine, Serum 0.9 (was worried about this last time)
HDL Cholesterol 42 (a little low)
LDL Cholesterol 120 (down from 133)
Triglycerides 52

Overall, I'm very pleased with the results. :) I was hoping for a lower a1c, but had a couple infections and a couple bad sets recently...

I get so jealous. Is this a bad thing? Does jealousy raise your blood sugar???

Thanks... Hard work does pay off. Now I find myself trying to better my wife's non-diabetic a1c of 5.4.

Hey, Cyborg, Congratulations :congrats:! You're doing great- keep it up.

Oh, btw, if that offer still stands to take that 5.8 off your hands, I'd be happy to do so... :D.

Ya know, complaining about a 5.9 a1c is a good way to piss people off.

But congrats, none the less!

locutus/cyborg,
Question - I thought the goal for HBA1C for diabetics was below 7 so why the concern to go from 5.8 to 5.7 and hoping to go lower? I was thrilled to go from 14 to 7.7 to 6.6 I thought I was doing so well, should I be worried and needing it to be less than 5.7?

Kimber, it sounds like you are doing really well... I think some feel that the lower the A1c, the better, but, IMO, I think that if you are under 7.0 you are doing great. That said, I think we can still strive for better. If you can bring it down w/o risking more lows then it's worth a try. But if you are experiencing low upon low blood sugar then trying to reduce it may not be good.

Anyway, keep doing what you are doing... you are making great progress and it's good motivation for others to try and do the same.

Take care.

Some people (including me) make it a point to have a non diabetic a1c. While 6.6 is a great a1c, it is not quite non diabetic. 6.6 is equivalent to an average blood glucose of 134 mg/dl.

I have trouble functioning and thnking when my bgs is below 100, so I know I will never achieve that low of an A1C, but congrats to you Cyborg, that is a great number.

Someone,
Thankyou for the chart. I think for myself I will shoot for 5.6
A1C. Having a goal to strive for will give me motivation for more excersize and diet control. Thanks Cyborg for bringing this to my attention. I mistakenly thought I was at a stable level but I will continue to try to bring my #s down. See what you can learn by listening to the voice of experience?

If you let yourself hang out below 100 more often, you'll get used to it and be able to function.
