:) I was recently diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic approx. 3 weeks ago.. Im taking Lantus and have noticed my levels have been in normal range.. However, my vision is blurry. My glasses even make it worse... so I went to my eye doctor and he said that I needed a bifocal, but wanted me to wait a month to see if my body would adjust.... so, he sent me to the pharmacy to get some reading glasses to wear with my contacts in.. It helps but still seems not as sharp as it needs to be... Has anybody experienced this when they were first diagnosed? I find this to be very depressing not being able to read like I used to... I could read without contacts or glasses and if I needed some sharpness, just put the contacts in or the glasses on. Now, I can't read anything without...
Somebody please give me some encouraging news.. Im praying this is temporary situation....

Hi there! Nice to meet you. Your eyes should improve as your blood sugars go down. I had the same thing going on when I was diagnosed, and they told me the same thing, to wait awhile and let your blood sugars get settled down and then have your eyes checked. Glad you found us here, this is a wonderful group of people with some wonderful answers. Welcome!

I was having great trouble with my eyes being really blurry and decided I needed new glasses - only to be told by the optician that the reason for my eye problems was that I was diabetic and therefore I should see my doctor. That was how I found out I was diabetic - quite a shock!
Strangely enough I could see perfectly well without my glasses for a week or two then when my blood sugars went down I had to wear them again!
I think you will find that your eyes will settle down after a while.

I experienced the same thing...and I also wore reading glasses with my contacts for about 6-8 weeks, if I remember correctly, and then it settled back down. It was irritating, but it doesn't last. Hang in there!

Welcome to the forum. I recommend that you don't get new glasses. Wait a few weeks first. After I was diagnosed and started treatment my vision was really off, but within a few weeks it went back to normal. You may find the same thing happens to you and then you've spent all that money for nothing.
