Same here. The last meter I requested took about two weeks. It's been about 4 since I requested the mini via the e-mail!

I must be missing something...where is the serial number? I put in the code under the barcode and it says it's an invalid s/n.

I'm using the UltraSmart.

That's why. You have to use an older meter that is in the drop down list.

OK, I'll have to look up an old meter. Thanks Jedi

Bummer! I really wanted to get a mini for using at work, but I don't have one of the older meters, just the ultra smart and the ultra 2, so it wouldn't let me.

Thanks for the link anyway!

I just signed up for another UltraSmart. Now I'll have 3 UltraSmarts, an AccuCheck, an Ultra, and a Precision. Guess I'll never be without a meter...

You CANNOT use the Ultrasmart. You MUST use one of those meters in the drop down list.

LOL........How stupid am I! You posted this to Lizzy, but I guess I didn't read it! I was thinking the "Ultra" in the drop down box was referring to the Ultra Smart! LOL

I do have an Ultra but I can't use the serial # because I got it this past February. Oh well!

Now my question is...who wants to try one of her numbers again to see if they can be used multiple times.

Yes, apparently the numbers can be used more than once, as I just ordered myself a "mini." Thanks for sharing!

oooh! I want a freebie, but can't decide. I already have the UltraSmart, so should I go for a Mini? What are the Mini and Ultra2 like? Anybody got any serious likes or dislikes for either? Or should I get a brand new UltraSmart... mine is coming up on 5-6 years old. And it's the only meter I have, so I definitely need a second one!

Wait... do they all take the same test strips as the US?

princesslinda
04-12-2007, 11:43 AM
I have the Ultra-II...I like it, but it's big...has a nice background light and can mark before and after meals (though I don't bother with marking it) and it has 7,14 and 30 day avg (my freestyle only had 14 day avg). The numbers are big as well. I ordered the mini, as i'd like something basic for my purse or desk or for travel.

Jen you might want to look at this link https://www.onetouchgold.com/simplestart/ and apply for an Ultra Smart through there. That way you can apply for a Mini in this thread and have the best of both worlds. :)

But is it for a Mini? That's what I've been trying to get.

I want a Mini too.

So I noticed.... This is basically a replacement program for their loyal customers who have older meters... SO lets say (hypothetically, of course) that a person has already has a OneTouch UltraSmart, but they would like a mini and don't want to pay for it... Would it be dishonest to take the serial number off an old FastTake and give them that?

Hypothetically, of course

Heck no. I'm doing it. They get enough from me every year for their 2 cent test strips. The least they can do is give me a free meter after I've used them for over 10 years now.

Just got my mini today....FINALLY!! It took well over a month from the day I replied to the e-mail they sent me. However, it was worth the wait. I love the size of this thing, and the tiny carrying case it comes with. The case is soft like the cases for the old one touch was...unlike the harder foam one with the ultrasmart which I truly dislike.
This one is great for keeping in my purse!

Nope, I haven't!! They did say however I should expect it in 6-8 weeks. Hopefully, I'll get the lastest Mini I inquired about when I used one of my old Ultra's serial number. If all else fails I'll go to Walgreens and just buy the thing. :)

I know, it's not like they are expensive....it's just the principle of the thing! They get PLENTY enough of my money with all of the strips I use! The LEAST they can do is send me a free meter every now and again!

At the bottom of the offer page it says:

Meters will be shipped in 4 to 6 weeks.
The form was last modified on March 28, 2007

I just applied for a mini today. I never used to carry a purse, but once it became necessary to carry a meter when away from home, I started casrrying a purse, which I don't really like. A mini would be great if I can fit it, a lancet device, and strips all in pockets. I think I still need to get a tiny vial for strips though. The little can they come is is too fat for my pockets.

Hmm, I wonder if strips would fit in one of those little nitroglycerin bottles that attach to a keychain. Do those bottles have a moisture absorbent in them?

camjen1
05-04-2007, 11:23 AM
The Mini comes in a much smaller case (half the size of the normal ultrasmart case) that contains the strip container and lancet device. The case would easily fit in anyone's pocket.

slipperyelm
05-04-2007, 11:34 AM
Really? :) I looked at them in the box at the store and thought they would still be a little too bulky. I usually only have front jeans pockets and I wouldn't want to smush the stuff when I sit down, or have them be pushed sideways out of my pocket. Well, we'll see. ;)

I can't wait until they become available in Canada (a rep told me June). Did they fix the whole issue of not having a memory? It's a cute meter, but that's a real turn off for regular use.

I bought one for like $15 not long after they came out. Wasn't overly impressed with it.It's alright .... Doesn't do any fancy stuffs tho, I guess that's why?

I lent it to my MIL when her DexII quit on her and she was waiting on a new Breeze replacement to come in (dont like those meters either! But it's what she's accustomed to. She is 76 yrs old after all!) She's still got it infact. BUT .... I do LOVE the small lancet device!! I use it all the time! Keep it in my UltraSmart case! :)

Now if they'd just fix the meter holder in the UltraSmart Case so that it doesn't have that stupid clear plastic peice that runs across the screen! UGH I HATE that thing! I've turned mine upside down (and my strip container and lancet) so I can actually READ the screen! I love that case otherwise, nice and padded, keeping things safe in there! Things like to FLY out of my purse!! LOL

Exactly!! That's what I didn't like the most. AND you really can't just fit it into your pocket! Perhaps if you've got big pockets??

To my knowledge it does have memory but how much it holds is beyond me. It also is not compatible with the software.

Yes, it does!! MY BAD!! I meant it doesn't do Averages, that is what I didn't like most. I'm a bit compulsive about keeping all my testing on ONE meter ;) Even tho I have SEVEN of them! LOL

Wahey! Was in the pharmacy today, and they were passing out free meters. My AccuChek Aviva has worked well, but from past usage of that brand, they don't survive long.

The new freebie is a OneTouch Ultra 2. Never tried the brand before, but now I have a spare meter.

Now I shall open the package and see what it looks like.

As for the no memory thing- I have 2 UltraSmarts so those are my "main" meters. I figure this one will be good to throw in a little purse when I want to go out or something like that.

I am so exicited! And so glad I didn't have to pay for it :T

Ordered a Ultra Smrt on April 7. Still no meter no notice. Oh well what should I expect for free. My US is over 5 years old and still going strong. I think maybe this will make it easier to try out the new Wave when I need a new one and don't have another US.

I finally got my ultra smart the other day...Now i have one of each! heheh.. guess what guys....

they want you to send the old meters in that you gave the serial numbers for

they gave a box and shipping info for it, postage paid.... but im not sending that one in either, its still brand new in box lol (insurance company sent it to me, but was an older model, so i just kept in box)

if they ask or something ill just say that i lost it after i placed the order lol

Stacy, I thought the letter stated you can send back your old meter if you chose to so that they could recycle them? Plus the letter was directed for all old meters whether they were One Touch brand or not. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

I don't think you nor I will be having a visit form the monitor patrol anytime soon. :D
