Hi Guys,
I just wanted to let you know that BD Logic hands out free backup meters when traveling. I called last week and explained I will be traveling to Brazil in May and needed a backup meter. They sent a one that doesn't send the data to my meter, but yet free. They didn't say I had to send it back to them once I return so I assume it is free. I have done this twice now.
A few years back I asked minimed for a backup meter for my vacation and can you believe they sent one to me! $6000 equipment in my luggage from the US to Brazil and back for over 30 days. A little scary.

You can tell most meter companys you dropped your meter in the toilet and they will send you a free one. The meters are nothing compared to what they make on test strips.

I think all pump companies do this. The understanding is if you don't send it back within 30 days of your estimated return that they will simply bill you for it. If you don't pay the bill, then it's a civil matter that can go to court along with them just not giving you and more pump supplies.

Quite a coincidence that you'd post this today, Mcneely - I've spent 2 hours today trying to get a Paradigm Link meter without any results. Since BD sold the business, it seems like they've completely given up on the meters. My mail order pharmacy doesn't carry the meter, BD says they don't give out the Link meter anymore for free, Minimed says I'll have to pay full price for it as well - don't know who else to call. Can you tell me where you got your meter?
Does anybody else know where these are available (without having to pay full price for them! I'm paying through the nose for the strips as is!)

This may not be helpful, but it's a shot! My BD Link Meter broke after having it less than a year. I called the new Customer Care today 1-800-681-7390. They were very helpful and are overnighting me a new meter; however, they did say to send back the broken one free of charge.

So BD is still sending out meters? I use the Logic, and would like to continue using it, but I only have one now because all the others are broken.
Any Logic users been able to get a new meter?

No, they (BD) are not. If you call BD they will direct you to the new company, and they will handle sending one out.

Call BD and ask for the new company for the BD meter. They should direct you. As for a free meter, I would never say lie but apparently JediSkipdogg says you can do just that and they will send a meter. I am not so sure about that. I do know in the past BD never hesitated to send me one.
I did put up a post that I have a $20 mail in rebate available for anyone who wants it. Visit my signature for details.

Someone you should be able to obtain a BD meter if your other BD meters have warranty's. And if you are a BD user you should have received a card in the mail to extend the warranty for an extra 6 months.

I'll try to call them. I never sent in the warranty registration cards, so I never got an extension.

Actually, if you already own one, I don't think you need to send that card in. Just read off your most recent pump ID (on the back) and I am willing to bet they will send you a new one. If the meter is no longer working tell them. If it doesn't give good readings, tell them. It is in their best interest to take care of you.

I don't have the Minimed one. Just the Logic.
