View Full Version : Time to play "Guess your BGL!"
Right before I test I always try to "guess" what BG level I'm going to get on my meter. I even get it exactly sometimes but usually I am +/- 10 mg/dl.
I think that playing this "game" helps you to realize how you're doing, control wise.
Anybody else do this?

hehehe, we do this in the chat room...
"hey guys, guess my bg", and in come the guesses... it's funny sometimes how close people who know you fairly well can be, especially when they guess you right on target several times in a row!!

That only happens when you PM them in the chat room. LOL.
Not that any of us would ever do that. ;)

Yep, I like to do this, too. Call it a hobby. MJB, the fact that you are usually right within +/- 10% on yourself means that you must be fairly in tune with your diabetes.
If so, congrats! That ability should benefit you greatly. :)

I always do it. The mystery test is always AM fasting. The rest of the day I can get in the ballpark with. I think if I can ever get confident with that morning one, I could say I'm in good control. *sigh*

Seriously Mike, I have to agree with statdeac. That does show that you are in tune with your diabetes control and how your body reacts.
Very good !!! :)

I do guess just before testing!
When I think my levels are really good... they are not

Yes, I play the game too. I'm normally pretty close, but not always... I know if I've eaten a pretty high carb meal, then I'll be rather high but never really know for sure just how high!
I've never played the game well in the chat room though...I stink at guessing other people's bgs.

i try to do this most times when i test. i am normally reasonably close.
I find guessing when i've eaten something I haven't bolused for the hardest, sometimes i'll be in range, sometimes I'll be high.

Ditto.
Having DP sometimes feels a lot like having an additional disease.

My kids play this with me. My 6 year old son does extremely well with it.

Oh, I sure do. My mother started this when I was little. It was fun and got me motivated to try and keep my BG's normal and I still do it to this day. :)

I also play the game...........and sometimes when I "feel" I am lower, the meter says I'm higher! That's when I quit playing! LOL

Yes, I play "guess the BS" each time I check...kinda like a pop quiz in high school....sometimes I do well, sometimes I don't. AM readings are the ones most likely to vary for me.

I absolutely dread every single test I do (and that's about 10 per day). I'm in absolute agony before I get the result. I can't tell what I am ever, not high, not low nothing. I panic (physically) everytime I test because I just have no clue what I will be (killing myself with something over 6, or not feeling anything below 4 @$##@$). And then, when I get a result between 4-6 and I'm 3 hours away from eating I freak and have to eat. Testing is a torture for me.
I do, however, play it in the chat.
Today's fasting guess 98, actual 94.
Today's 2hr pp guess 108, actual 105.
Maybe I should join the circus. :D :D

The shorter list would be ... "WHO DOESN'T"...I even play it with my cats...I always guess before they do...they're sooooooo dumb! my dog gets closer than I do sometimes.
just kidding y'all....I have found that since I started on the Lantus, th e signs are different than they were growing up- NOW, I don't know if it's the meno(thingy) with all the other symptoms of everything else going on ....or WHAT! I seem to feel tired and cranky when I'm low and hyper when I'm high. WTF? I've learned that I HAVE to test and can't trust the past. Each low seems to be different too.  D just seems to be a battle that I'm always tring to fight-I have found that during weekends-peanuts help keep my BS's in the norms ... weird huh?

LOL Scarlett
I've had the same problem on the pump. I still feel lows, but its harder for me to gauge where my BGs are otherwise.
And the peanut thing makes perfect sense to me. They have carbs, protein and fat. My "magic" food is 1% milk. On Lantus, I would drink a glass of milk before bed everynight to keep my BG stable. :)

I have a friend who's diabetic too, and one day I guessed her blood sugar correctly, exact number, 3 times in a row. It was crazy. I can't guess my own worth beans though.

Yes i do, and this is good as to get people to see that their BG's are on target. We had a campaign as *know your BG's* and keep the status quo as just now i have 7.4 / 133.2 so that's a little high for me as my guess was at lest 10mmol/l because i had a donut with jam and icing too.
