I have a weird repercussion when it comes to eating peanuts and was wondering if anyone else does. My sugars stay pretty much around the 70's and 80's all day when I test. I'll take the right U/carb gram and still stay pretty even.
I try to eat them a lot-
Does anyone know if the fat (or something) in them metabolizes the chemicals in the body to "behave" like a good ole non-D?

Gee i must take up on peanuts then but besides the BG's it's the oil that in the nut that's the problem and again i'm not sure about how heathy they are.

Almost any kind of nuts help keep my numbers low (er). This is a scientific statement, just something I have noticed. I keep meaning to test it to be sure that is what happens, but nuts cost so much.

Peanuts in the shell are $1.49/lb-we usually have to get 5 lbs. or so every week- Blue Jays and squirrels are an interesting way to spend some quality time w/hubby while he feeds them.
Somehow, they always get more peanuts than I do:confused:

I snack on peanuts throughout the day. They have very little effect on BG levels and prevent cravings for other snacks.

I like to eat peanuts quite a lot too. As with others they don't have a big impact on my BG levels. Mind you, I'm not sure the same can be said of my heart... :dong:

My CDE doesn't get that panicked look in her eyes when folks talk about eating nuts of any kind -- she's generally fine with vegetable fats because she says that they don't increase LDL levels. Of course fat = calories, so if you're trying to lose weight they might not be the greatest snack in the world. Still, if your weight is under control, munch on. I seem to be in a serious nut-eating phase right now, to the point where I wonder on occasion if I shouldn't join a 12-step program for peanut/almond/cashew/macademia/pecan lovers who um, love too much.

I snack on peanuts. They are about 15% carbohydrate, 25% protein, and 50% fat. Which is why they don't spike BG levels. I eat a couple of handfuls with a low-carb beer after work every day. For the best health outcome, you should really eat the raw nuts. They don't taste quite as good but they are a lot better for you.
The problem with unsaturated fat is that it is oxidised in the the processing, cooking or roasting process. Oxidised fats are inflammatory, leading to increased cholesterol and heart disease. Saturated fats, of course, are a lot more stable ...

great-a food I love and the fats are no good-
weight is around 135-140 / 5'5" so I'm pretty much in the "avg" range-got some bloodwork results back from cardio yesterday-taken on 4/21:
next endo appt. 5/1-let's see what he says about results
total cholesterol=158
triglycerides=44
HDL=71
LDL=78
BS=54 (oops)
liver & kidney tests=OK
and I eat peanuts a lot (I think a lot)-I've also been carbo craving-not sure if there's a reason for it though :confused:
