A wheat-free diet is ideal for a diabetic. The easiest breakfast is an egg dish. Like an omelette with a cheese and mushroom filling :eating: .

If you want to include carbohydrate at breakfast you can make porridge with quinioa, pancakes with buckwheat , polenta, muesli either manufactured gluten free or homemade with a variety of gluten free grains and seeds.
Otherwise you could as Bluesky suggests base your breakfast on eggs and other proteins, ham, kipppers, herrings etc
For a lighter breakfast you coud have lowfat/carb yoghurt or fromage blanc with a piece of fruit and a slice of gluten free toast crispbread.
Tomatoes or mushrooms or (higher carb) baked beans again on gf toast or crispbread.
If you google gluten free recipes you'll find lots on the web

I like Porridge, It's low GI and add some fruit or honey or for those in canada maple syrup. This will keep the hunger pangs away till lunch but then that is just one that i can think of but i don't have porridge eveyday as this can Leeds to boredom. ;)

I question what you find unsuitable and why? As long as your post prandials stay in range, go for it! If they don't, do some detailed testing to find out 1. if your rates are ok and 2. can you change things up to handle it (e.g. early bolus).

oops. forgot to mention coeliacs is fairly new for me. i got to be very sensitive to any of the gluten family, even oats are off the menu :(
i used to have breakfast cereals, or toast with peanut butter. i like eggs but my doc says diabetics shouldnt eat too many because of the cholesterol (mine is fine btw).
i just wondered if there is an alternative to eating boiled rice every meal

I eat cottage cheese and some kind of fruit every morning. It is wheat free, low glycemic, and I get the cottage cheese by lactaid so that it doesn't bother the lactose intolerance I have....I am not a celiac but find that eating any type of grains in the morning really screws with my bloodsugars. HTH :o

Eggs, turkey bacon and fruit salad?
Also if you can have honey, plain yogurt with honey and almonds is sooooo good.
:eating:
2tbs ricotta cheese
1 egg
splosh of cream or milk
2 tbs ground flax or ground almonds or mix
mix together micro 2mins
break up with fork
sf syrup and a bit more cream...
tastes like porridge..

If you like eggs, eat lots of them. An egg is the ultimate super-food. It contains all the nutrients required for a new life .... It is now realised that they don't increase cholesterol, although some doctors and dietitians are a bit slow to catch on. I eat 3+ eggs a day and my cholesterol hasn't been affected. You would need to eat about 40 eggs a day to consume more cholesterol than your body needs. So don't go overboard ... :T

Agreed! Eggs have less cholesterol than chicken!
If you are still worried, you can always use 1 yolk and 2 or 3 whites. All of the cholesterol and fat is in the yolk. The whites are only 18 calories, all protein.

Most days I don't eat breakfast. That's gluten free.

what about pancakes could there be a way you could make them suitable yourself?
Or fresh fruit?
I was an egg eater for breaky because i didnt need to take a shot with it and they dont affect my sugar levels. But they gave me very high cholesterol so i'm only allowed one a month now! I don't bother with them at all anymore.
I had a ham salad for breakfast the other day and it was suprisingly nice :)

I used to eat 2 a day for breakfast maybe 3, and i got very high cholesterol. I was told if it didnt come down to normal levels soon i would need medication for it. I stopped eating eggs and I was back to normal very soon! Its only the yolk that contains cholesterol.... eat as much of the white as you please.
Everyones different, but i wouldn't say eating lots of eggs is healthy for anyone. It's like most foods, a little bit is usually better than "lots". Eggs are full of goodness yes but so is chocolate and milk... not when you eat too much of it tho!

Im not sure, but I think corn flakes and rice crispies are gluten free. You could also go for gluten free toast.

Ok, I just fixed this for breakfast the most wonderful dish, and virtually carb free. Its my mexican breakfast dish
4 oz of chicken strips(i buy frozen tyson) fried on forman grill with no additives
1 egg, scrambled, but as your scrambling it, add banana peppers, half of a slice of cheese, and add 1 to 2 tbsp's of your favorite taco sauce. Stir and cook until the eggs are done. Take the rest of that slice of cheese and lay it over the eggs after you've added it to your plate.
also as a garnish or another side of veggies, add 4 pepperoncini peppers.
I use carbwell bbq sauce to dip my chicken in or you can use taco sauce for that as well.
after i added this all up
255 calories and 7 carbs for the sauce and cheese
I didnt have bacon at the house or I woulda added bacon to the eggs. If you like more food, you can always add another egg or another serving of chicken. You might try added chicken to the eggs after cooking it and shredding it too.
