Good job on the A1C Stacey!!!:star:

I had problems with my HDL...it was 23 the first time and I started on fish oil tablets and red wine at bedtime...3 months later it was 44 and LDL had lowered from 141 to 120.

What was the doc's advice? I'm sure he was proud of that A1C! Keep up the good work.

Nice A1C cheeks!!

The cholesterol is tough....but you should stay away from the bad stuff (not that you eat badly). Cook w/ more olive oil maybe. Might have been a bad day though. I wouldn't be overly concerned.

AWESOME STACE!!! :five: *hugz*

I dunno about the cholesterol thing, I just can't get a grasp on ANY of that! LOL When doc rattled off the number, I was like .. uh, yea! *blank stare* Infact, all he told me was my 'total cholesterol' which I think was 172 or 178 One seventy something anyway?? Dont remember now ... and that was enough for me! I didn't even enquire about being specific! LOL

no because im child bearing age.... and since im not on birth control she's not going to give them to me either.... she said my cholesterol was genetic and there's really not much i can do about it

I cook with canola oil, but rarely (maybe 1 or 2 times a month) ever cook with it anyway... so i dont think its that... ill just wait till 3 months from now and see where im at

/em hates wine and we live in a dry county.... no alcohol sold here, so its at least 1 hour away and we rarely ever go out of town.

im glad the hdl came up tho

Don't know where they got that reference range from. Studies have shown that LDL of 80 - 160 maximises longevity. So you really want it to be in that range. My LDL is 152, which is fine. IMO, you need to be working on increasing your HDL, which in women should be over 50. Getting lots of exercise and eating lots of saturated fat (believe it or not...) should have the desired effect. ;)

She said she went to a seminar about a month ago and they are doing studies know that diabetics need to have better cholesterol than a non diabetic. So she wants me in the 80's.... im fine with 101 cause thats 2 points ofter normal... but i really dont understand the hole cholesterol thing, looks to me like if its genetics... what can you do besides take those meds....

oh well
