i woke up last spring with a feeling in my left ear like there was a cotton ball type feeling in my ear not pain just a clogged feeling. well i went to the dr and i was told i had a bad infection although no pain at all. well the severity of the infection i had made me lose part of the hearing in that ear.

Yes....good thing I can read!
Hubby says it's selective...... but, seriously I can hear some things quite clearly. I can hear the tick, tick, tick of the dishwasher timer from the living room (OPEN THAT THING before I LOSE it!) I can hear my stepson clicking the keyboard in the office down the hall...etc.
Forget it if someone (he) is talking away from me, though! Or my co-worker that speaks VERY softly and asks me questions through 2 wall dividers and 20 ft. away., and my daughter that speaks like the INDY 500!!!
And I thought that was because I danced too close to the giant speakers in Studio 54 (New York City, NY) and all the other clubs when I was a teenager.

I have a complete loss in one ear and a 30% loss in the other. I have a genetic condition that causes the hearing loss. It started when I was a teenager.

I have tinnitus, but that's independent from the diabetes. I've had the ringing for about 11 years now. Sucks to be in my head, but otherwise my "hearing" is fine.

Yes I do, I have a hearing aide for each ear. I figured it was because of The Big "D".
I also lost my vision for about 45 days then that returned.
My BG was so high for so long and they brought me down the Vision went. Luckily it returned.

Yes, I have long-standing type one and a hearing loss in my left year. Interesting article, Mr. E, thanks.
I have been blaming it on 3rd row seats at a great but very loud Jethro Tull concert all these years.

Yes,I am hard of hearing, but,I started having trouble with my right ear as far back as I can remember, since kindergarten, and then had a bad infection when I was about 13. It's been off and on since. I just got over another infection recently.I do need to have them checked out as far as how much hearing loss. Like you, I can hear certain things, when no one else can,but I think that;s definetly something going awry with my hearing, almost like for a second it'll be amplified. And it always feels as if there is cotton packed in it.Or I'll have a crackling sound,or a tickle, something constantly.

Yeah, that was an interesting article, and it makes a lot of sense. I have hearing loss in both ears due to a massive infection when I was a child, but that was before the big D, so I assume it isn't related. I'm trying to think back now to the days when I had diabetes related complications, and I wonder if my hearing worsened during that time. I can't remember, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did, even though I've never had neuropathy, since my hearing has always been an achilles heel for me.
