I was trying to gain some more awareness of lows before the 40's and in doing so, have run a bit higher about a week. (which is PMS week anyway) Now I am feeling low at 90! WTF?? I'm so irritated. 60 would have been perfect, but I guess that would be asking to much of this stupid disease. Who would have known that 1week of higher numbers (180's)would make THAT much difference??? All that I have worked for with a 6.5 a1c is F'ed up. Back to square 1. Thanks for listening. Oh yeah....and my honeymoon is ending and I am starting on Levemir today.

It shouldn't take very long to recalibrate your BG thermostat. I find that when hormones hit I don't have much success with chasing them down with a unit or two here and a unit or two there when I find I'm still high..... I have to ambush my BG and increase my basal by a scary amount, as well as my bolus insulin. It's so frustrating to do everything right 51 out of 52 weeks of the year and have something stupid like hormones come along and screw it up in a matter of days. It doesn't really screw it up, though, it just feels like it. Levemir should help a lot.

hi kel4han,
i wouldnt worry about it too much this week if its 'pms' time, my bg's always run higher and i get low at a higher level during that week too.
btw, the levemir made me really hungry at first, lasts for about a week or so while your body adjusts.

Hang in there. I go through this all of the time. Right now I am not feeling low until I hit the 40 range. I will have to play the same dumb game and see if I can "up" that number. I end up doing the same thing and feel lows in the 70's. You can never win.....LOL
