Something different every day. I like strawberries and 1/2 banana with fat free cool whip, or sprouted grain bagel with low fat cream cheese. I also like scrambled eggs with peppers and avacado or pancakes with Joseph's sugar free syrup. A lot of mornings it is just coffee.

I do not like Breakfast. I mean I like it...its just an akward meal for me. I am so busy trying to get my kids out the door for school. I drink a shake, a bowl of grits, yogurt with some slivered almonds, or an apple...........I just never wake up feeling hungry. In the AM food is a chore. I literally feel like I have to force feed myself in the morning.

On weekdays, a 5 ounce bagel with cream cheese and 6 units of Humalog. On Saturdays, 1.5 egg omelet of some kind, home fries, 1/2 an English muffin with 1 glopping Tbsp of homemade jam (strawberry, raspberry, peach, blueberry), 1 chocolate chip pancake without syrup, 7 units of Humalog, and a 3 mile walk at 3 MPH or more. Ahhhh, the beauty of insulin and exercise together...

Either one of two things:

10 Grain hot cereal or Wheatina, with plain yogurt and walnuts

or

Eggs, asparagus and shrooms, whole grain toast

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. Always it is either three egg omelet or scrambled, with 3oz some kind of cheese (usually American, Cheddar or Baby Swiss) and some cut up veggies.

I have the same thing most days for breakfast. I eat 62g of Special K cereal, does not really matter what kind, I just love the stuff, 8 ozers of 1% moo, then I add one of those little cups of cottage cheese. (Not to the cereal, yes, I have been asked) It comes in anywhere from 65-69 carbs depending on the flavor of cereal. (The new chocolate one is awesome).

It's no wonder that people get to snack during the day and they have a big lunch. For me if i didn't have breakfast then something is missing and to satisfiy the basal insulin's need of the low GI breaky!

I basically eat the same breakfast during the week........ 2 pieces of toasted light wheat bread and a cup or two of coffee.

Sometimes I'll have a bowl of Special K Protein Plus (low in carbs) with low carb milk or an omelet or scrambled eggs with bacon.

I'd eat a better breakfast if I could just get someone to come in and cook it for me every morning! LOL

2 scrambled eggs in olive oil and 2 pieces of bacon....I really don't care for b/fast....before diagnosis, if I ate anything for b/fast it was a bagel or a danish...now I find if I don't eat, I get shaky...it's a challenge for me to swallow any food before 7 a.m., much less scramble eggs...but, I manage.

How do you guys do that! If I ate anything like that I would be high all day, even with a big dose of my Novolog. This morning I had a very small banana. Yesterday I had 2 slices of "light bread" (35 caloires and 8 or less carbs each) with peanut butter spread like butter. If I am low enough, I will have a snack around 11....today I am going for hard boiled eggs, yesterday I had 1/2 an apple. I used to love breakfast, was starving when I woke and had cereal, oatmeal or eggs and fruit or juice. Now there is just no way I can have a big breakfast.:(

This morning I had a thick slice of french toast made with egg beaters and homemade bread. I found the bread recipe in a Better Homes & Gardens book. It's really rich & sweet. It's delicious on its own, plain, and the french toast was amazing! I had it with some sugar free syrup. I also had a hard boiled egg.

Penny, ,If I eat breakfast(such as cereal, fruit, bread, bagels) then my bgs go up,up and away! It's different if I eat eggs and cheese with onions and tomatoes and various veggies(low carbs) but getting in the mood to do that is hard. Usually by 10 am -noon,then I can eat that. But in the process,I eat too much at night, thus the high readings in the mornings. If I can break away from doing that ,then my bgs are fine . I've gotten into a terrible habit of eating in the evening, which is not working for me.

I think eating in the evenings is one of my problems, too. But, my problem is I seldom get to bed before one or two in the morning, then sleep between 5 and 7 hours. I eat a small snack at 11pm (a piece of cheese and a cracker), when I take my big Lantus shot, but have to force myself to not have anything after 8. Then I still go to bed hungry. I can eat eggs for breakfast with no problem, but I like my eggs with toast and it does cause a problem. I have experimented with many different breakfasts, anything more than what I do now, just causes me to run high all day. I kind of think it has to do with my age, the older I get, the more food causes me problems......can't eat as much and have to be more careful of what I choose....yet I am still fat. :o

I am a creature of habit. I do 1 eggo for breakfast each morning with water to rehydrate myself, and chase it down with some diet coke. :D There's just no time for anything else! It's so hard to get up earlier to fix something warm; even though 1 eggo barely holds me over till 10 and my stomach thinks I'm torturing it.

On the weekends, though, I will do a brunchy thing: skillet potatoes, lots of onion, cheese, veggies. Or french toast. Or waffles. Or pancakes. Or maybe even some bacon, every once in a while, yum!

I would love to be able to have a huge breakfast every single day of my life, and then a medium-sized lunch and a small dinner/supper. Start big and end up small over the course of the day. I just can't take the time to do that.

It's usually some crustless quiche, or 2 low carb tortillas with peanut butter and a tsp of honey and big dollop of cool whip.( OOOH so good.) And many cups of coffee with coffee mate ans splenda. Weekends are usually 2 peices whole wheat toast with Peanut butter, bannana, and honey. I eat more carbs on the weekends because I do may long runs on Saterday and Sunday.

MMmmm.....There is a few ideas there like on sunday here i have a brunch (Breakfast & lunch together!!) and i genraly nibble at it as i have all day!!. So i have a two eggs beaten in a cup with some milk and butter and in the pan actualy it's a skillet is one of those cast iron pans that will do the job. So fry some bacon and then take the bacon off then coresly chop tomato and onion and fry in the skillet then add the beaten egg mix in with the tomato & onion and cook that over a low heat put back the bacon and cut some cheese and put that on top of the bacon then start up the grill and place the skillet in the grill and melt the cheese and serve that on toast and some baked beans too.

Warning, Eat this if you are starveing!!! ;) :T

I keep away from juices as they will raise your sugars fast. Before being diagnosed, breakfast was rare for me. now it is the most important meal of the day. I go for whole grain cereals such anything from Kashi. They are even sending free boxes of cereal to you free at Kashi.com.
I usually mix the brands together to get some variety. I like to throw some fruit or raisins for some sweetness.
Thomases has a whole grain bagel which is great with cream cheese.
I know some people said they cannot eat breakfast. I was one of them but cutting back on eating late at night will make you hungrier in the morning, go for it. You will be better off and thinner as the carbs won't be sitting in a non moving body. Get up earlier if you must, dvr that show you have to see late at night and watch it while you are eating breakfast.
I was also a night person but once I started traveling 5 or more time zones and adjsting, I realized that being a night person was a choice not a reality

I usually don't eat breakfast but lately I have been. I found South Beach Diet breakfast bars to be really good. The chocolate one's are really good and are filling. They contain 15 grams of carbs per bar.

I am getting used to turkey bacon and the Egg Beaters scrambled eggs for breakfast. Never was much of a breakfast eater but find that it does keep the hypo at bay.
