Hi Tony,

I never used the Quick set Plus, but I have heard of the problems some encountered using them. What a pain! I'm glad I never had those problems. I do use the regular quick sets, and they seem to be ok most of the time, but every now and then something is bound to go wrong. I have noticed since they have gone back into production of the old quck sets, they don't seem to stick as well. I don' t know if anyone else has experienced this, could be just me.

Anyway, thanks again for letting us know. Who knows? There could be people out there still using these sets, they should definitely know about this and I think they would appreciat you posting this message.

Thanks Tony for the note about the recall; I hadn't heard anything from Mini-Med.

I haven't had any problems but the Mini-Med site return of the Quick Set Plus sets (QSP) says return is mandated by the fact that this is a "Class 1" recall.

I arranged to get the old Quick Set sent as replacement for the QSPs I had and received them promptly, but got no instructions about how to return the recalled QPSs: no mailer, no instructions. I'm happy to return them but reluctant to plunk down my own money for Mini-Med's problem.

Anyone know how the return works? I've e-mailed MM but have received no response.

Call this number Bob: 1-800-646-4633. It was given on the Customer recall letter (http://www.minimed.com/QSP/9197054-011_5-04.pdf) that minimed sent out on May 15.

Well good news........and not so good news. I spoke with the west coast rep for MiniMed today.
They are going to send me one free box of quick sets and replace the ones I still have left.........good news, feel better bout that.
I was also told that if I DO HAPPEN to get my pump wet they will replace it free of charge if it goes bonkers on me. That made me feel better.
BUT......I was told that BD will be recalling the meter. Not only were the strips not up to par but my understanding is that the software in the meter is ALSO not to BD standards. She said if BD doesn't replace the like 10 vials of worthless strips I bought then used they will. .........I'm not holding my breath on this one.....time will tell folks.

Hi Alaska,

It's good to hear Minimed is going to resolve the Quick Sets Plus issue and that they'd replace the pump should it have any water problems. I hope they will do the same for you with the BD Strips and Meter (when a new/improved one is released), and sorry to hear that it caused you trouble. I hope all gets better for you soon! :)

Why thank ya Dewey. Ya know. I just love my pump problems and all, my A1C's have dropped dramatically due to the pump and I don't have the major ups and downs with BS levels as I use to.
I told the MiniMed rep I'm willing to give the meter one more chance. After that if I have problems with they need to refund me. I don't mind being a research subject but at least let me in on the fact I AM ONE............lol

Oh my goodness I just typed up a reply and hit backspace and POOF there it all went...oh well. Long story short. New hardware was bad, made me have an infection on my stomach, 2 different sites. BG went up to 908, (still walking) finally went into ICU, BG went up to 1200, craving water like you can't imagine. Had to operate on the 2 sites that got infected..ouch! OUCH! Talked to minimed rep shortly after getting out of hospital and found out that they were recalling the hardware, but that was in Feburary. Just wondering why they took so long to put it into action. Pump works great, old hardware worked great, why change something that worked. Better yet why take something that worked off of the option to choose? Minimed messed up big time with this one. Now that they brought back the old hardware I am not having anymore issues.
Just think, this was the short version....lol.. ;-)
