I reckon it's something like low sugar jelly...
I mean look at the nutritional content...
it weighs 54g, and contains...
1g of fat, 2g of fibre, 2g of sugar, which leaves 49g of no nutritional value...
... seems like it ain't even worth a chew (",)

Sherlock Holmes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes) is a fictional detective of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who first appeared in publication in 1887. He is the creation of Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A brilliant London-based detective, Holmes is famous for his intellectual prowess, and is renowned for his skillful use of deductive reasoning and astute observation to solve difficult cases. He is arguably the most famous fictional detective ever created, and is one of the best known and most universally recognisable literary characters in any genre.

The answer I'm looking for is painfully obvious to diabetics.

Uh, but there ARE carbs listed. 2g of Fibre carbs, and 2g of Sugar. So, it IS 8% of something. It should be the recommended daily % of carbs (in this case) but that means they are saying a person should only eat 40gs of carbs a day....

You are a poorly constructed nutrition label.

wholemeal Bread ?
assuming that 8% of daily allowance (? 300 gram) then carbs would be about 24 gm and I think the other figures could be about right

ummmm... perhaps a medium size plain bagel????
Ok X....your on my list. It is 1:17 am and my daughter and I have been at this since 11:30 pm. We have guessed:
plain white rice
soda crackers (too much sodium)
We did an escargot check since the label was in French:slug: (forgot you were from Canada)
Wonder bread (iron kids)
and last but not least HUMAN BLOOD, but we could not find a nutritional label for that.
I am tired and it is not painfully obvious to this bad diabetic. :goodnight

Yes my thoughts went that way as well though I think that it would be lower in carbs?
Given the French on the label I did look up sanguette ( a speciality to be avoided if possible ; made mostly from fresh chicken, duck or pig blood) but not surprisingly couldn't find any nutritional info

I'm not going to tell you exactly what it is except that it's from a loaf of bread. It can be found in a major food chain across Canada.
A crime has inded been committed! This is a non-compliant food label. As I am diabetic and rely on carb information, I thought it my duty to report this to Health Canada. They were very receptive of my call late on a Friday afternoon, and they are getting right on it.
If it was a local product I'd have called the store and producer. But with national companies and supply chains and long distance calls and probable mob influence ;) I felt it best to let the experts deal with it. There are certainly others across the country who use this information as I do.

At least it has 2g of fiber so it's probably not icky white bread. Has to have some whole wheat/whole grain in it.
