At 8:30 this morning, I was 119.....at 5 am I was 83. I took all my morning meds, including Metformin, Glyburide, and 15 units of Novolog. At 11, I took my morning dose of Lantus. I ate 2 slices "light bread" (total of 70 cal and 16 carbs), spray margerine (no cal., no carbs), sprinkled on a little Nutra Sweet and cinnamon. I also had one cup unsweetened, black coffee. At 12:30, I was feeling low and hungry, so tested....150! This happens several times a week, and I just can't figure out why. But I can eat a meal with more carbs than I should have and be low. all day.

We all get days like this. It is just our normal hormones fluctuating. The D get's a bit confused by our bodies trying to be normal. Don't worry too much, it isn't dangerous unless it becomes a daily thing over a long time.

What bothered me is I have been running low all week. I still am at 139, haven't eated anything but raw veggies. I upped my nighttime Lantus to 80 (doctor's suggestion, because fasting was still averaging 140), and I was really pleased with the 119. The doctor said to just take more Novolog, but.....I was 119 and had very few carbs, didn't seem like I would need more than 15. I know days like this happen, but seems like the harder I try to have control, the worse my numbers are.

I put this sort of thing down to 'just one of those things'.
The other day after a social get-together which entailed a good (but healthy) feed, I tested at 5am because I felt unwell and that usually means that my sugar level is dropping. However, it was 6.7 (120.6) so I had a small slug of milk, felt better and went back to bed. At 7.30 when I got up my sugar was at 7.7 (138.6) and there is no way that the small amount of milk would have done that.
A couple of hours later after breakfast and exercise, I was down to my normal 5.8 (104.4). As I would expect Harold to opine, must be something to do with the phases of the moon or the position of Neptune

Sometimes it just is....
Last weekend I knew I was low. I was starving, shaky, sweaty, slightly confused, etc.- all the usual low signs. I mean I KNEW I was low. Decided to check... 126.
I said, uh-uh. I know I'm low- I don't care what the meter says. I took 3 glucose tablets and some water (mouth was dry- another symptom of really low for me), then 2 more glucose tablets. 15 minutes later- I'm feeling great.
Can't explain it. Doesn't matter. Just validates my motto, "Whatever works."

I have decided I am sick! :) Right now I feel OK, but for the last 2 mornings, I woke in the too early morning, with stomach pains and gas, and really just feeling bad. I would test and be in the high 120s. I got up, walked around, had a drink of water, took some Novolog, and finally fall asleep in a chair. When I woke a few hours later, I would be a little lower, still 120 something, but not feel too bad. Just seems to not matter how much or how little insulin I take or how little I eat or how much I exercise, my numbers are not making sense. So, I must be sick. Still no word about the capsule endoscope, and I am beginning to think there is something wrong.
